PME Dolphin Tales
11/30/22
Hello Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! It is hard to believe we have three weeks until Winter Break. It has been a busy month, and we were able to celebrate several of our top dolphins with student of the month awards. The video is posted below. We will continue recognizing our top students each month throughout the year. This Saturday, please join us for Breakfast with Santa, December 3rd, from 8am-12pm in the PME Gym. Please see the flyer below for more info about Breakfast with Santa. We will once again have a PTA Holiday Shop beginning the week of December 5th. Students may visit the shop to purchase gifts for their loved ones, and pricing for items starts at $1.
We want to thank our families for participating in the Penny Wars fundraiser! The students had fun, and it was a huge success. We are one step closer to our goal of having House Shirts for every student. For those of you that purchase items from Honey Baked Hams during the holidays, we have set up a fundraiser through Honey Baked Ham Co. 20% of every purchase supports our campus. The link to the fundraiser is here...

Our Winter Parties will happen on December 15th. Teachers will reach out to you if they need your assistance with the parties. Only parents volunteering at the parties will be allowed to enter the classrooms on that day. Friday, December 16th, is an early dismissal day (day ends at 12:05 pm). We will also have Polar Express Day on Friday, December 16th, and students may wear school appropriate pajamas to school.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you!

Lunch Visitors
The link to sign up for lunch visitors is on our school webpage. Please limit lunch visits to one time per week, per student. Link to school website - click here
A few reminders:
- There can only be one lunch visit per student per week.
- Always leave the quantity at "1" Younger siblings are welcome to come with you (if not school-age), but you will still leave the quantity at "1"
- Sign-ups must be done by 10am if you are signing up on the "day of" your lunch visit.
- Sorry, no "walk-ins"
- If you sign up but are unable to come, please go cancel your sign-up so that it opens that slot for other families.
- If you are on campus volunteering, you still need to sign up for a spot to eat lunch with your child.
- You may bring lunch for your student, or they can purchase a tray lunch. If you would like to purchase a tray lunch, the adult trays are $5.00.
- You will eat lunch with your child (no friends) at the plastic "parent" tables in the cafeteria.
- You may not take photographs per the Katy ISD Elementary Student Handbook.
- Teachers are supervising students during lunch. Their primary role during this time is to assist and supervise students. It is not a time for parent/teacher conferences. If you need to speak with the teacher, please email requesting a conference.
- Students may not be taken out of the cafeteria during lunch time for any reason. If you need to check your student out during/after lunch, please go to the front office and they will call the student for dismissal.
- Please say your goodbyes in the cafeteria. Please do not follow your child to the classroom.
Transportation
McRoberts Parents,
Our car rider line has become quicker each week. In the afternoon, the last car is usually in the lot by 3:20. Please make sure that you are not cutting into the car rider drop off or pickup lines, as we have a teacher recording numbers down Misty Cove so your child will be ready for you when you get to the front of the line. We realize the line can get very long, and we appreciate your patience and kindness toward the parents that are already waiting in line.
Thank you for your help!

Grandparents Day Lunch - Friday, September 9th
Grandparents of PME students are invited to have lunch with their grandchild on Friday, September 9th during grade level lunches. In order for grandparents to be allowed to visit, we must have a signed permission slip on file from a parent/guardian. This will also allow us to know how many guests to expect. Permission slips went home earlier this week, and must be returned by Tuesday, September 6th. If the Grandparents have never been Raptored at school, please ask them to show up at least 30 minutes prior to their grandchild's lunch time, and they must have a valid ID. See the PTA section below for more information about the Raptor system.

Volunteer and Raptor Registration
NEW PROCEDURE! Volunteer and Raptor Registration
Katy ISD is excited to announce the implementation of the District’s Raptor Volunteer Initiative for the upcoming school year. Beginning October 1, the district will require all volunteers serving on campus during the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system.
Raptor ensures quick and easy volunteer registration allowing individual volunteers to create and manage a personal volunteer profile. In addition, the Raptor Volunteer Initiative will:
• Provide an additional layer of protection for Katy ISD students, staff, volunteers, and campus visitors
• Unite all district volunteers into one Katy ISD volunteer community
• Measure and communicate the positive impact of Katy ISD volunteer organizations
Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
• Submit and track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
• The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off- campus volunteer hours
The volunteer registration requirement will extend to all volunteers serving on or off-campus, during or after the instructional day effective January 4.
Join our volunteer community and register today!

Review of Previous News
Transportation
- Our school day starts at 7:50 this year
- Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
- Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m. (all students at PME will have free breakfast and lunch for 2022-2023)
- Please make sure your students are ready to exit the vehicle quickly when you get to the arrival spot. Our lines have been extremely long and helping ensure they have backpacks and everything ready to go will help our line move more quickly.
Dismissal Reminders
- Please do not block/stop in any crosswalk. Blocking the crosswalk forces students to walk between cars, creating a safety concern.
- The car rider line is long and slow at the beginning of the year as student learns their numbers and dismissal routes. Parents who pick up their car rider must have the PME transportation tag for 2022-2023 hanging from their rearview mirror. We have staff who record the number when you enter the parking lot and staff at the car rider pickup location that will verify that the number in your car is the same as the number on the student's backpack. It is important that your child have their backpack tag on their backpack at all times. If it falls off, please let your teacher know and he/she can help replace it. Please be patient. The car rider line will get quicker.
KISD Buses
- KISD Buses will again be equipped with GPS tracking. This will allow parents to stay informed as to the arrival and drop off times for their students. The detailed information about signing up for buses is listed here...
Katy ISD buses are equipped with GPS systems. With the GPS systems, parents, campuses and transportation personnel are able to track buses in real-time through a downloadable application from Edulog. For parents and patrons having children who are eligible for transportation services in Katy ISD, the link below contains information on how to download the application.
Our campus code is: 90381168
Please see the attachment for step-by-step instructions.
http://www.katyisd.org/dept/transportation/Pages/Bus-Track.aspx- We do recommend you show up at the bus stop a little early and stay past the scheduled drop off time just to make sure you do not miss the bus. Please be patient the first few weeks of school as the drivers learn the routes. KINDER PARENTS - You must be at the bus stop to receive your student or the bus will not drop off your child.
