Micheal Vey 2 : Rise of the Elgen

Richard Paul Evans

Michael Vey is a teenager from Idaho who was born with electrical powers. The Elgen have been hunting him and the other 16 children with alike powers. With the help of his friends, Taylor, Ostin, and the rest of the Electroclan, Michael must stop Dr. Hatch from taking over the world. On top of all this, Michael must rescue his mother, who was abruptly kidnapped by Dr. Hatch earlier on. He and his Electroclan go to Peru in order to fulfill these large orders. They go on many challenging missions, with "the voice" keeping them safe and secure. Although they have done it once before, the Electroclan will have their plate full in trying to take down the Elgen and no-good Dr. Hatch.

"I rated this book a five because it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The action sequences towards the end of the book are very engaging and entertaining. I enjoy good science fiction that seems believable. I also love a story that has a character that demonstrates integrity and leadership. Michael Vey should be in every middle school library in this country." - Andrew Palmer

"We waited in line hours to have it signed by Richard Paul Evans. He was great. However, the book it itself is wonderful. My child, who hates reading, wouldn't put it down. She read it all within a day and we had to MAKE her take breaks. I would recommend this book to anyone with children between the ages of 9 or 10 and 16 to 17." -A. Hunt

Eminem - Not Afraid (Clean)
"Not Afraid" by Eminem is a song that definitely describes Michael Vey. This song describes someone who isn't worried about what others think, and someone who shows no fear. Michael acted fearless when taking on the Elgen, and was "not afraid to take a stand". He showed true bravery and stopped at nothing to protect his friends, and his mother.

If you haven't read this book already, it should be put on your list immediately. It is an outstanding book, and the series only gets better. This book, and series, stands out to me because you never want to stop reading. Once you start the first book, you just want to read at all times, and never put the book down. Also, this book, and series, provides all the action and adventure that teens love to read about. I have never really been a big fan of reading, but I couldn't stop reading the Michael Vey series. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fantastic and thrilling read.
