Spring Break Fun - FFA Style
The Contest was a great success! We had around 1700 students registered from over 75 different schools around the state and others. Hopefully we were able to provide everyone with a high contest for everyone.
Each of these events that these kids work on are all career based competitions. The FFA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
These events range from Forestry, Entomology, Ag Management, Nursery and Landscaping, Ag Mechanics, public and prepared speaking events and many many more. Not only are they learning career skills that will last a lifetime, they are also learning to work cooperatively as a team and think critically.
We can't thank our FFA Booster club enough for helping run each of the areas. It's great to see so many people in the community come together, all with the same purpose; to help our students succeed. Thank you to all who helped, to all Ag Teachers who brought their students, and most of all to each student who is part of this great organization!

Congrats to the MHS Student Council
The Honor Council Committee of Missouri Association of Student Councils is pleased to announce that Marshfield High School Student Council has been awarded the Missouri Association of Student Councils Gold Honor Council Award. Winners were recognized at the 2022 State Convention at Branson High School. Marshfield High School Student Council was recognized for its involvement at the local level, involvement in District Student Council, and involvement at the state level. Only 54 student councils met the criteria for the award.
This honor is based on an application submitted by Marshfield High School Student Council. Marshfield High School Student Council met the criteria as established by the Honor Council committee and the MASC Advisory Board. The criteria are established to honor those Councils that have a comprehensive program in promoting student activities and student leadership. Activities include school service, spirit, community service, student and teacher recognition, and leadership training activities.
Student Councils and student leaders make a positive contribution to their schools and help to create a positive educational climate. We congratulate you for providing an atmosphere where your students and Student Council can play a vital role in your school. We also wish to recognize the advisor ship of Breanne Rost who certainly played a large part in the acquisition of this award. We would also recognize Jeff Curley, principal, for supporting the efforts of these young leaders.

Hubble Elementary
First grade students in Mrs. Jacobs, Mrs. Creed, and Mrs. Vaughn’s classes recently completed a unit in which they wrote research papers on an animal of their choice. Students were introduced to using text and online research tools as well as graphic organizers for planning. The unit culminated with each student making a diorama of their animal in its habitat.

Mrs. Killingsworth wants her students to remember all that they learned during their 5th grade year. More importantly, she wants them to remember how they felt. She wants them to know that happiness, really, is a choice. When students came back from spring break, she had made each one a personalized “Jar of Good Things”. The purpose is for students to write good things that happen to them throughout the day - no matter how big or small - and put it in their jars for when they might need a little pick-me-up. Students are also encouraged to fill other students’ jars with positive things they notice or appreciate about them.
The goal is by the end of the year, each student has many happy moments to help them reflect on what a great year it’s been!

Recently the students in ProStart 1 had their Annual Chili Cook-off in class. This event
culminates the course’s soup unit.
The students got into groups and were given the responsibility to come up with their own chili by determining the ingredients they would be utilizing. They could choose from the following proteins: ground beef, ground pork, chicken, and pork chops.
Students were given “free rein” to create, and their products were judged on level of
consistency, intensity of heat, spices used, and the inclusion of extra ingredients (beans,
onions, garlic, & peppers, etc). This challenged students to think critically and work together as a team to ensure a quality product.
High School staff served as judges, and both students and teachers enjoyed the “competition,” looking forward to many more in the future!
- ALL permanent bus transportation changes MUST be communicated through Central Office. 859-2120 ext. 0 Changes to transportation will go into affect 2 school days following the request. DO NOT give this information to the classroom teacher OR the building office.
- Students will be allowed ONLY 3 permanent bus changes throughout the entire school year.
- Students may only be set up for TWO transportation addresses at any given time.
- Students may only travel to permanent addresses. There will be NO after school notes accepted for students traveling to addresses parents have not previously listed for their child. In the event that your student needs to travel to an occasional address already requested, you will either send a note to school with your child or call the building office.

Marshfield Early Learning Center
During the March Board of Education meeting, the name Marshfield Early Learning Center was selected for our current early childhood center project. Recent progress includes the interior framing on the classroom wing nearing completion. Interior drywall installation has begun in conjunction with mechanical, electric, and plumbing work. The overall shape of the building and walkways are nearly complete. Soon, masonry work will be started on the project.
Visit the Marshfield ECLC Project page on the district webpage to learn more. You’ll find videos, monthly progress reports, and a timeline of the expected progress through our planned opening in August of 2022.
