Zooming Into Class
As we continue to gather more requests by students and families to Zoom students into classes while they are absent we wanted to communicate our Zoom Guidelines. As of right now, students will ONLY be able to Zoom into class if they have been placed into quarantine due to an exposure to COVID-19 or a COVID-19 positive test result. Parental/guardian consent is required for students to Zoom into class. All other absences including non-COVID-19 Illness, parent excused, pre-planned, etc. will NOT be allowed to Zoom into classes. At this time, we do not have the technology or personnel capacity to Zoom students into classes for other reasons.
These guidelines have been developed in an effort to provide a framework for supporting student learning in the event that they must remain home for quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure during the 2020-2021 school year.
As a reminder, families will have the option to switch models of instruction prior to the start of second semester.
Is Your Child Getting Enought Social-Emotional Support
There will be two session times for you to choose from:
5:30-6:30 p.m. specific to PK-5 grades
6:45-7:45 p.m. specific to 6-12 grades
District Communication To Families
Communication Reminder
Both inside and outside of the classroom, students learn how to think critically, evaluate issues, form opinions and express their opinions to others with evidence - and most importantly, respect. However, conducting these discussions in a productive way can be very difficult, and during a time when emotions are highly-charged, it becomes easier and more common for these conversations to move from passionate to disrespectful.
We encourage students, families and staff to have conversations about important topics and events in a respectful, productive way. With that in mind, we offer the following suggestions for both online and in-person discussions on emotional subjects:
- Listen first, speak second. Seek to understand an issue or a person before making comments. And when you speak your truth, do so with integrity and grace.
- Even in disagreement, be respectful of others. This especially includes the use of disrespectful language. If a discussion turns unproductive, you always have the option to leave the conversation.
- Remember that what you say never goes away. It can come back, even years later. Choose your words with care and understand how they will reflect back on you in the future.
We have faith in the character and integrity of our school community, and we know that it’s our students, families and staff that drive change and make our community a better place.

LIBRARY LEDGER
Reducing Eye Strain
Eye strain can be a problem when students are learning from a screen for extended periods of time. It can also be a concern for students recovering from concussions or other head trauma. The following tools may not eliminate eye strain, but they can often help.
- Screen Shader: Use this Chrome extension to tint your screen and ease eye strain.
- Visor: This is both a screen dimmer and reading aid that can help guide reading by highlighting one line at a time on the screen.
