Welcome Back to School!
Clifford School
Welcome Message from the Principal
August 9, 2019
Dear Clifford Parents, Guardians and Students,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am excited for the start of the school year. And I know the Clifford staff are looking forward to seeing our all of our students. The summer has zoomed by. While I enjoyed being with my own family, I am excited for the return for what I am confident will be another great year at Clifford School! Clifford is an amazing school in a wonderful and supportive community. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you to create a school that meets the diverse needs of all of our children, and to lead new initiatives to support and celebrate their success.
I continue to feel honored and proud to serve this community for the last four years as the Vice Principal and now as Principal. It is a special honor to serve in this role. I know that Leslie Crane, who decided to take a position with a different district last spring, will be deeply missed. Please know that I take my responsibilities to you, your children, and our teachers and staff very seriously and look forward to meeting you personally in the days ahead.
While I have had the honor of serving and getting to know our returning families, please allow me to introduce myself to our new families. I am married and live in San Francisco. My wife and I have four children. Our oldest is 21 years old; our youngest is approaching 10 months old and we have two teenagers in between! I understand busy lives and the very special bond between parents and their children. I hold an administrative credential and Master’s degree, as well as a special education credential. I have substantial experience teaching special education and general education students in various settings in grades K-12, as well as working with their families. My teaching and administrative experience has been based primarily in urban settings serving diverse groups of students and families.
All of our teachers are focused on providing your children with a supportive, positive, first rate educational experience. At Clifford, we have the right team in place to make this happen and I see each family and community member as a partner in the quest to achieve this vision.
We will continue to work collaboratively on our school wide goals outlined in our Single Plan for Student Achievement. Goal 1: All students will reach high standards, at a minimum, attaining proficiency or better in English Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and Math, by 19/20. Students meeting or exceeding standards will increase by 5% in all grade levels in English Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and Math. Goal 2: The school will ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all stakeholders; a place where all families have access to and engagement with the entire school community in a collegial, supportive, and transparent manner.
I encourage parents and students to attend our School Site Council, ELAC, and PTO meetings where we discuss our goals in depth and have the opportunity to get to know each other.
The new school year brings a new look to our school. Over the course of the spring and summer, the community-supported bond projects, which were approved in 2015, have transformed an area of our school nearest the playground. The new solar panel is now in place with only the interconnection left to do. This is a 324 panel, 131 kilowatt system that will produce 231,700 kilowatts in one year and offset 95% of the power used by the electrical switchgear that feeds the Library Media Center, the Multi Use Building/Kitchen and the two-story classroom building. This has been possible because of the generous support of our community, thank you. See some photos below.
The new school year also brings some new faces to our Clifford family! Clifford is fortunate to have a new Assistant Principal, Tiffany Parrish. Tiffany comes from McKinley Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Redwood City where she taught 8th grade English language arts for four years. Tiffany has extensive experience working in middle school and she has also taught in the elementary grades as well.
We have some new Clifford teachers/staff joining our Clifford family:
Kelsey Fowle who will be teaching 3rd grade in room 17.
Kimberley Bewley, Kinder Teacher
Cindy Kentopian, who will be teaching our 1st grade class in room 5.
Ian Candelaria, who is teaching in 6-8th special education in room 37.
Jennifer Nakamura, Therapist, room 39
Marcie Reihanifam, is teaching K-2 special education in room 12.
Daniel Rogers, is our new 6-8 PE teacher, in room 36
Monica Carroll, School Psychologist
Mayra Guerra, Office Manager, Main Office
All of our staff have been working day and night getting ready for your children to return on August 19 at 8:15. Clifford teachers and staff are the hardest working staff I have ever worked with. The dedication and commitment to top notch education for your children is outstanding and inspiring. I am so impressed with the Clifford family and
Please read the information carefully and note dates and times of upcoming events – the most important of which is Maze Day in the MUB on 8/14/19 from 8-12 & 4-7 to come and pick up your student's schedule, meet our fabulous PTO, learn about after school sports, meet the Girl Scouts, get your child’s picture taken, and verify the contact information in PowerSchool. We will have computers set up in the MUB to assist with the online registration.
Our school community is strong, passionate, and deserving of administrators, teachers, and staff who enable each one of our students to thrive academically and socially. I am grateful for all the many ways you have engaged with me in that process over the years and I look forward to continuing our partnership with all of our families. Our new Assistant Principal and I will continue to welcome your ideas and your efforts.
The first day of school is right around the corner; that is hard to believe. I always look forward to our first day of school; the students fill the hallways and their spirit brings Clifford to life. I can’t wait to see their smiling faces!
Clifford is planning to welcome new families with a potluck celebration on September 13th, at 6:00 PM. More information to come from PTO about this exciting event.
Here's to a fantastic school year,

PS. Please note that teachers are working hard in their classrooms and I would like to ask that parents/students not interrupt the teachers workday in their classrooms during maze day.
Thank you.
Vea algunas fotos a continuación.
Jude Noyes
