No school - February 11th - 15th
A message from the Principal-Mrs. Bookman
To our Suffield Family,
We appreciate all of you who met with teachers for conferences his past week. It's so important to keep the lines of communication open with families. If you couldn't make the conference, but still have concerns, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or to me and I will arrange something for you.
Remember that there is no school Thursday-Monday. Teachers are in professional development and President's Day is on Monday.
This week's Habit is Habit #4-Think Win-Win. The paradigm we often hear and think of is "There is only so much, and the more you get, the less there is for me." When we apply Habit #4 we start to move our thinking to "There is plenty out there for everyone and more to spare." Think about mutual benefits, fairness, and abundance. When you see your children arguing over things this week, remind them of Habit #4 and how there is plenty for everyone!
Have a great weekend!

February Leadership Roles:
Habit 4 - Think Win-Win
Think Win-win is the belief that everyone can win. It’s not you or me, it’s both of us. It’s a belief that there are enough good things for everyone. It’s being able to be happy when good things happen to other people.
Wednesday, February 17th - National Random Acts of Kindness Day
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." (Aesop)
Celebrate by paying for a strangers coffee or meal, leave a kind note for someone, donate clothes or food to local shelters, send a thank you note to essential employees, send someone a gift or just give someone a compliment!
Be the First to Know… Calamity Notification
Our staff and students will be notified of a school closing due to inclement weather, etc., via our Superintendent’s Twitter account. If you would like to follow us, the Twitter account is @Field_Supt. A School Messenger (phone call) notification will follow the Twitter post. If you have any questions, please contact Administration.
Also, do you follow Mrs. Bookman on Twitter? She posts throughout the school day and you might just see your child in action at school. If your child is like most, they tell you they did "nothing" at school. Well follow Mrs. Bookman and see what they really are doing! @SuffieldE

Zoom Clarification for In-Person Learners
If your child has COVID symptoms or is exposed to someone at home with COVID symptoms, and cannot attend school, please notify the office immediately.
A student with COVID symptoms is not required to login to class to live stream if he or she is ill; however, you have the option of having your child live stream if you feel that your child is feeling well enough to be online. If they feel well enough and will be logging in, please let your child’s teacher know so that the teacher will let him/her into the Zoom session.
If your child is quarantining they are expected to be logging into all of the classroom Zoom sessions throughout the day. If your child is home on quarantine and cannot login for any reason, you should call your child off school like you would any other day. If you have any questions please let me know.
If your child is off of school for anything not “COVID” related, he/she will not be permitted to join a Zoom session.
A message for our remote learners
- The next material pick-up/drop-off date is February 16th from 9:30-1:30. Drop off the red envelope with any work your child may have to turn in. Even if you do not have something to return, please bring the envelope. We will give you the yellow envelope with new work.
- Please keep the office informed if your child will be absent from the live streaming. This is important for attendance purposes. Also, it is important for your child to log in on time so the teacher can let your child into the Zoom session. If your student is late, he/she may not be able to get into the session.
- Future pick-up/drop-off dates are:
- February 16
- March 1
- March 15
- March 29
- April 19
- May 3

Crayola Colorcycle Program
Crayola and schools across North America have banded together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Suffield Elementary will now take part in recycling markers that no longer work. It’s a super easy project to help our environment! You can send in any brand of markers, sharpies, dry erase, and highlighters. Once we collect the markers, they will be shipped to a facility that repurposes them so that they are kept out of the landfills.
