SkillsUSA members, with the help of digital design students (including middle and high school students within the program), completed designs of holiday greeting cards. Each card displayed student designs, some were digitally created and printed, while others were done by hand.

As part of their holiday festivities, SkillsUSA carefully counted and organized cards, to ensure that each nursing home received a sampling of both digitally created and handmade cards, as well as a card for each resident. 292 cards were created, signed, and organized by students. These were then delivered to Green Hills, Campbell Place, Belle Springs, and Logan Acres nursing homes.

We are, again, excited to announce the opening of Benjamin Logan’s School-Based Health Center (BL-SBHC) January 3, 2022. Because of this partnership with Community Health & Wellness Partners (CHWP), our District will have the opportunity to provide integrated primary healthcare services to our students, families, and faculty on the BL campus for anyone who wishes to participate.

Community Health & Wellness Partners, located in Bellefontaine, West Liberty and Russells Point, is a community health center that provides integrated primary care services to our community. These services include primary care, behavioral health, pharmacy, nutrition, chronic care management and social service resources. As a patient-centered medical home in the community, CHWP will help ensure our students are in the best optimal health care possible.

Paula Strebig, Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), a provider who has served CHWP over the past four years, will serve as the BL-SBHC primary care provider. She, along with our school nurse, Amanda Siefring RN, will help ensure treatment plans for minor problem or chronic issues are followed. Ms. Strebig will be able to see students, parents, and BL faculty. With CHWP’s team care model, CNP Strebig can help integrate services such as management of chronic diseases, nutrition, pharmacy, and behavioral health for your student/s.

Ms. Strebig will be onsite at the BL Elementary Building daily 7:30am to noon. When students or faculty patients would need something additional outside of the school nursing role, i.e. prescriptions, etc.*, Ms. Strebig will be able to meet those needs in the moment, providing your child with a consistent way to receive needed care with families needed support and convenience. Students seen at BL-SBHC will interact just as they would with any other primary care provider. That said, the BL-SBHC does not seek to replace your child’s current healthcare provider - it serves as an optional touchpoint for students to receive health support and help ensure they meet their treatment schedules.

We are very excited about the BL-SBHC opening January 3, 2022, 7:30am to noon daily. This is an exciting opportunity for community collaboration, both for our school district and CHWP! Together, we believe we can improve the health and well-being of our students so that they can achieve their full health academic potential.

The Jazz Academy tour made a stop at BLHS to share an hour of swingin' family-friendly jazz with our K-4 students. The students were on their feet and dancing while learning about jazz musicians, instruments, and more! This program was sponsored by the Benjamin Logan Elementary PTC.
