Bay Lane Elementary Information
A Message From The Principal
Dear Bay Lane Families,
Next week we will be hosting two opportunities for families to partner with us:
Parent Forum: Tuesday, February 26 8:00 - 8:45 AM (Mr. Carlson will provide an activity for school-aged children in the gym - participating students must be registered in the Parent Feedback RSVP form)
Location: Bay Lane Multi-Purpose Room 51
Coffee with the Principals: Friday, March 1 9:15 - 10:15 AM (Picture ID sign-in required)
Location: Bay Lane Multi-Purpose Room 51
If you would like to attend any of the opportunities listed above, please complete this Parent Feedback RSVP form.
If your schedule allows, we would love to see you. Additionally, we have reserved Wednesday, March 27th as a whole school evening conference night. The PTO will be hosting the spring Book Fair on Tuesday, March 26th during the Bobcat Expo night and also on Wednesday, March 27th during the reserved conference night. We have selected the night of March 27th because it follows when report cards are sent home (March 20th) and aligns with the PTO Expo and Book Fair event. Classroom teachers, specialists, teaching and learning coaches, administrators, and student services teams will be available this evening.
In the fall, our conference schedule was designed to follow a traditional format and our goal is for 100% of our student families to participate. Spring conferences are designed to allow for more flexibility. Because of this, there will not be a whole school sign-up for spring conferences. Classroom teachers and specialists will be reaching out to families by Monday, March 11th with information detailing if they are requesting a face-to-face conference. Some classrooms may choose alternative conference formats and this will also be communicated by classroom teachers. With this flexibility, please note that families are always invited to request a face-to-face meeting with their child's teacher in or outside the conference window and we will work with you to make sure that you are provided the opportunity to partner in your child's learning.
In valued partnership,
Sara Stanley, Bay Lane principal

Yearbook
Q: Did I order a yearbook yet? A: No, you did not! :) We will open orders in the next few weeks! We have found if we open more than one ordering window or too long of a window, families can't remember if they ordered. Paper order forms will go home when they are ready and a link will be available in the Blast. Thank you!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be open and the Milwaukee Art Museum presents Kohl’s Color Wheels which will be available for some family fun! Need some ideas? There are many ideas online and the library has books geared toward different age levels. School Lunch and Recess Schedule and Menu
A message from food service:
Please make sure when sending in money with your child for hot lunch to clearly mark the student's name in the "memo section" of the check or if sending cash, write student's name on the envelope. This ensures the money goes into the family account. Also, when sending money, please discuss with your child the importance of turning funds in right away rather than being held in backpacks, lockers, or folders.

Laura Weiskopf
Hi. My name is Laura Weiskopf, and this is my first year working for Muskego-Norway Schools. I am currently employed as an Educational Assistant for Bay Lane Elementary School. Prior to this, I had been a Special Education teacher for many years. For the past 10 years, I was a member of the Special Education Evaluation Team for Milwaukee Public Schools. After deciding to retire from MPS in May 2018, I knew that I wanted to get back in the classroom environment and work directly with students again. When the opportunity presented itself here at Bay Lane, I applied for the position, and the rest is history. I am so very happy to be back working with students again. I look forward to the future.
Although I love working with the students at Bay Lane, my first loves are my husband of 23 years and my two children. My children are both in college. One attends Temple University in Philadelphia, and the other attends the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. It is very quiet in the house during the school year, and they are missed very much.
When I was 16 years old, I became a National Solo Baton Twirling Champion, and 5 years ago, I earned my 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate. These days, in my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, sewing, and knitting.
