Global Warming - Endangered Animals
How Global Warming affects various animals.
With many natural disasters and ever changing climate, many animals are greatly affected.
Some animals can no longer take the heat.
Polar Bears
In the Arctic, scientists believe that the ice is melting by 9% every decade. This can prevent the polar bears from hunting on the ice and also from moving on great distances.
Orangutans
Did you know? The orangutans are the only species of ape in all of Asia! Recently, their homes are receiving an increase in the duration and frequency of droughts. This creates more bush fires in the heavily logged forests of Indonesia.
There are other groups of animals who are affected, too. Only, they live in the ocean, the last place you'd think is in danger.
Whales
In the Atlantic sea, the water is growing warmer and warmer, producing less plankton for the North Atlantic Right whales to eat. This gives them both less food, and less of a chance to survive.
Sea Turtles
Did you know that almost every population of turtle is either considered extinct or endangered? Many beaches where sea turtles lay their eggs grow smaller as the water levels rise. This further prevents the turtles from laying eggs, diminishing their population.
