Lunch reminder for Friday

On Friday, Jan. 15, we will have a special assembly in the afternoon. Because of this, fourth-graders will eat lunch in the classroom. There will be no parent visitors for lunch on Friday.

If you ordered a sack lunch in advance from the cafeteria, your child will pick up lunch that day. All other students need to bring their own lunch to school on Friday. If in doubt, please email your child's homeroom teacher.

Morning drop-off reminder

Students do not need to wait for someone to open their door to exit to the curb.

As long as the line of cars is stopped and you are next to the curb, please have your student(s) exit on the curb side and walk along the sidewalk to the Pod 3 doors.

This will greatly improve the wait time and reduce tardies. Thank you!

Take part in Texas Bluebonnet voting

Texas Bluebonnet Award is a unique program that encourages reading for pleasure and is aimed at students in grades 3-6. Each year, 20 books are chosen as the “Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List” by the Texas Bluebonnet Award selection committee.

If students read a minimum of five books from the current master list (or have the books read aloud to them), they have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title during the month of January. The author of the book receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

To participate at Hosp, students should fill out an online form for each nominee that they have read. Once they have read and completed five forms, they will be invited to the library Jan. 29 to vote for their favorite book. These students will then be able to attend the Hosp Bluebonnet Celebration that will be held before school closes for the summer! The deadline for reading the books and completing the five forms is Friday, Jan. 29, which will be Voting Day! Click here for access to the form.

The complete list of books on the nominee list is also available on Hosp Library website.

Please contact Mrs. Kumar at if you have any questions.
