Comet Communication - Winter Break

Winter Break is Here

We had a fabulous week participating in dress up days, decorating doors, attending choir concerts, meeting Ripley the Therapy dog and participating in Activity Periods. We almost didn't want Winter Break to come! Please enjoy some of the pictures from this week.

No School Break!

We recognize that students and staff need to unplug in order to strive for a healthy balance in our lives. As a way to support that we want to insure that students and families have a true "break" during our winter break. The expectation is that students will not have any required work over break. The exceptions to this would be continuing to practice an instrument or reading.

Please take this time over break to allow your children to unplug and make time to relax and play as a family. We want all of our Comets at their best when they return in January!

Ripley the Therapy Dog

We were fortunate enough to have Ripley the Therapy Dog visit our building on Friday, Dec. 20th. Ripley is a certified Therapy Dog that was able to visit classrooms and spreading Holiday Cheer. Therapy Dogs have been proven to have multiple positive effects in the classroom setting. Here is an article that describes just a few of the benefits of therapy dogs in the classroom. We just loved her!!

Meet Our Teachers - Mrs. Kubatzke

Mrs. Kubatzke currently teaches 8th grade ELA and Science. She received her bachelors in elementary education from Missouri State University and her M.A. in educational administration from the University of Illinois. Mrs. Kubatzke's favorite thing about Coloma Community Schools is Green and Gold Day. "I have never been in a school system with as much pride and spirit. It is beautiful and overwhelming! I am probably the only one who cries at pep assemblies!" Outside of school, Mrs. Kubatzke loves to read, garden, and be outside. She also loves to attend live theatre performances.
