Thank you to the many families who participated in SGE's one and only fundraiser of the year, the Read-a-Thon! The money raised helps enrich the school environment for students and teachers in so many, many ways throughout the year.
This week, we will complete a lockout drill as well.
These drills will continue to take place periodically throughout the year.
It's almost Turkey Trot time! Mark your calendars now!
It's Turkey Trot time! Come walk 1 lap, 12 laps, or anywhere in between!!
SGE's Turkey Trot will be held at the BHS Bulldog stadium on Saturday, Nov 13th from 9-11am! We hope this scheduling will enable your student to attend and participate with FAMILY! We hope to see you there to help encourage physical activity, to help raise canned goods for the Burnet County Hunger Alliance, and to have some fun with the holiday season!
Incentive offered for the class with the most students participating on Nov 13th!
Incentive offered for the grade level with the most food donated!
Operation Gratitude Candy Collection
Dr. Henson's offices act as a collection point for extra Halloween candy. Once the candy is collected it is distributed to Military units (Ft Hood soldiers came to Burnet last year), the local Fire and Police Departments, and Veterans organizations to say THANK YOU for their service. It is a really neat program. Last year we collected over 400 pounds of candy in BCISD!!! Dr. Henson will throw a pizza party for the class that collects the most candy (by weight) for each grade at each school. Candy will be collected on Nov 5th, so students will have a week after Halloween to bring in their donations. See flyer below!
Update to Visitors on Campus!
Visitors to Campus: We are pleased to announce that the district's policy for visitors on campus has been recently updated. Visitors to campus will be limited in the following ways from October 20 - December 1, 2021.
Invited or scheduled visitors may volunteer on campus with activities such as reading to a class, helping in the library, assisting teachers with special classroom projects or activities, or assisting with PTO activities.
Parents of elementary students may walk their child to the classroom door after checking in at the front desk with their ID per normal visitor procedures.
Visitors to elementary and middle school will not be permitted to eat breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria. This will allow the District to continue to monitor case counts and ensure they remain low before lifting this restriction. The campus administration will also spend this time on developing procedures to help address the issues of cafeteria seating capacity for visitors and supply chain challenges for school meals and utensils.
By December 1, BCISD will publish any updates to visitor limitations based upon public health guidance, local health data, and experiences from the first month of school.

Car Line Reminders
We have observed that some cars are driving past the line of cars on CR 200, turning into the fire lane, and then cutting into their lane in front of all of the cars who are following the appropriate car line procedures. Be kind in line!
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
