Pre-General Conference Presentation
...and Prayer
RSVP if you are able.
As a reminder, international leaders of the United Methodist Church will be gathering in St. Louis from February 23-26th for a Special Called Session of General Conference. This General Conference will be working to embrace a "Way Forward" regarding the denomination's stance with regard to human sexuality.
Prospect will be hosting an informational meeting from 3:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, February 10th. We will review our denomination’s organizational leadership structure, the function of our Book of Discipline, basics of the principal plans being proposed as part of the UMC’s “Way Forward” with regard to human sexuality, and Prospect’s vision for a “Way Forward” related to our 2020 Vision. You are all invited to attend this informational gathering in the church's fellowship hall.
RSVP’s would be appreciated, so that we can prepare seating (but are not required).
In the meantime, we are all asked to be in prayer for this special session of our General Conference. To coincide with the conference’s February 23-26 meeting dates, perhaps you could join me in setting an alarm reminding you to pray each day from 2:23 to 2:26.
As we prepare for Sunday, here are a few online links to help educate us on the Way Forward process.
