A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings Kingsway Community,
April 19th saw a huge step towards normalcy, as KRMS opened its doors to 75% of our student body. Yes, the hallways are alive again with the sounds of laughter, friend chatter, and feet shuffling quickly to the next class. What was once something that was taken for granted, is now welcomed back and cherished tremendously. During the month of May, we look forward to the 22nd annual KRMS Talent Show, the mid-semester Renaissance Celebration, Seventh Grade Orientation, the results from our Math Counts video competition, and staff appreciation week where we honor and show our appreciation for those who help make KRMS so special. Enjoy the May flowers!
Mr. Tonelli
Principal, Kingsway Regional Middle School
MathCounts: Proving that Math really does “count”, we would like to say, congratulations to Madelyn Benjaminson, Haley Blair, Luca Lentini, and Mason Corey! Their MathCounts video is one of the final 4 in the country!
Julie Riggi Walk-A-Thon: The third annual Julie Riggi Walk-A-Thon was held on Tuesday, April 27th. Over 130 students showed up to walk in honor of the late Kingsway graduate and employee, Julie Riggi. The students had a great time walking in the sunshine in Nurse Riggi's honor, and all the money raised will go directly to graduating seniors in the form of a scholarship in Julie's name.
Benchmark Assessments: In both 7th and 8th grade, students will be taking LinkIT! benchmark assessments in ELA and Math on June 1st and June 3rd in an effort to gather end-of-year performance data. These assessments will not be graded. More detailed information will be sent in the coming weeks.
NJSLA State Testing: On April 6, the US Department of Education waived NJSLA testing for the spring, resulting in Start Strong assessments in Fall 2021 which will satisfy federal statewide assessment requirements. We will provide more details regarding Start Strong when we receive them.
ACCESS Testing: ACCESS testing for English Language Learners and Dynamic Learning Maps will be administered by June 11.
8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance: With the latest guidelines from the CDC, the 8th grade Semi-Formal Dance will take place on May 21, 2021. Tickets will go on sale in homeroom for Cohort AB students beginning May 4th for $10.00. Cohort V students (ONLY) can purchase tickets by clicking here.
Talent Show: The show must go on!! The 22nd Annual Middle School Talent Show is slated for Friday, May 7th. Limited tickets will be available for family members of the performers; the event will be live streamed. The link will be shared prior.
THANK YOU PARENTS/GUARDIANS: A huge thank you to all parents and guardians who have donated items that will be included in our Staff Appreciation Basket Raffle. We truly appreciate your generosity and willingness to give back!
Middle School Yearbook: The 2020-21 Kingsway Regional Middle School Yearbook is still available to purchase. As the world adjusts to change, one thing that remains constant is the yearbook tradition. This yearbook will capture the story of a unique school year. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, click here . We will be communicating a distribution plan in the coming weeks.
8th Grade Yearbook Release Picnics: On June 7th and 8th, each of the 8th grade students will receive their yearbook. The afternoon will be spent outside in the sun together as a team listening to music, enjoying some treats, playing games, and signing yearbooks. Cohort V students are welcomed to join; please reach out to Mr. Tonelli directly if you are interested in attending.
Artemis Project: NASA sponsored a project called the Artemis Project named after the next moon flight. This project is a step towards landing humans on Mars. The moon landing will allow astronauts to prepare for living for a period of time on another planet. Artemis will also be groundbreaking in that the team will include the first woman to land on the moon.
Fifteen students from the 8th grade here at Kingsway enthusiastically signed up to participate. They wrote a pledge and made a video. The students each recorded themselves reading the pledge and sent it to Dane Jespersen who then created the final video. This was submitted to NASA. This video will actually be brought to the moon in their next manned moon landing planned for 2024. A part of Kingsway will visit the moon!

Volunteers: We would like to recognize our student volunteers who helped make the Woolwich Easter Egg event a huge success! The students were commended by the township for doing an excellent job assisting with everything from setup and decorations, to providing information and assistance to attendees. Go Dragons!
