Big picture

It's testing time!!

It is time for all of our English Learners to take the annual language assessment known as WIDA Access 2.0. This assessment measures growth over one year in listening, reading, speaking, and writing English. Many of our students have already started to take the assessment while others will be taking it soon. Please click below for more information. We anticipate receiving the results around the beginning of May. Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Buchanan are making calls to let you know when your student is testing.

Does my child have Dyslexia?

What is Dyslexia? A learning disorder characterized by difficulty reading.

Dyslexia occurs in children with normal vision and intelligence.

Symptoms include late talking, learning new words slowly, and a delay in learning to read.

Most children with dyslexia can succeed in school with tutoring or a specialized education program.

All students in Kindergarten thru second grade, along with select students in third grade will be given a Dyslexia screening to identify if they are at risk for this learning disorder. If identified, students will receive a specialized program to help them become successful readers. The screening will begin February 22nd and continue thru March 19th.

8th-graders Do Now!

All 8th-grade students need to enroll in a high school of their choice. We are in the 2nd lottery already so if your child has not registered for 9th grade, please look at the IPS link here to see your options and choose the best fit for your interests. Bus transportation is available to all IPS high schools.

Coming Soon...IRead-3

Our 3rd-grade students will be taking The Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination (IREAD-3) assessment which measures foundational reading standards of grade 3 students each spring. It is currently scheduled for March 15th and 16th. We will be having an informational parent meeting about IREAD-3 on March 4th. Information will be in Mrs. Guthrie's Sunday at 6. The students have been preparing for this assessment throughout the school year and are currently participating in enrichment classes to strengthen their reading skills.
