PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 and Thursday, December 8, 2022, Beckwith Middle School will be holding parent-teacher conferences.
The session times are as follows:
Wednesday, December 7- 5:30pm-8:00pm

(Please note that students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. on December 8 due to afternoon parent/teacher conferences).
Our format for arranging parent-teacher conferences is an online system. Please use the link below to schedule your parent-teacher conference time.
Each teacher has a link with scheduled time slots. Accessing this link will allow you to schedule a time for that individual teacher only. Please enter your child's name in the box designated Student Name and then select a time for a parent-teacher conference. Select only one spot. If a mistake is made, please do not schedule an additional conference, rather call the main office (508-252-5080). Also, please make certain to write down the date and time of the selected conference before submitting.

REPORT CARDS SENT HOME NOVEMBER 18th
Please note that you can also access the report card via the Aspen Parent Portal. We are entertaining the idea of moving away from printed report cards next school year and using the Aspen Parent Portal for report cards.
NO COST AT-HOME COVID-19 TESTS
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Public Health is working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) so that school districts are able to provide at-home COVID-19 tests at no cost to our students. Should you choose to use them, these tests are primarily intended for use by students to support the return-to-school process after Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. Three testing kits will be going home with our students prior to our Thanksgiving break. Thank you.

BECKWITH BOOK FAIR - DECEMBER 5-9
Parents and Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become bolder, prouder, and stronger Readers, and, as always, every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from DECEMBER 5th
through DECEMBER 9th. Students will have the opportunity to shop the Book Fair during their
school day. There will be several opportunities for families to shop together: during the
Rehoboth PTSA Craft Fair Friday, December 2nd 5-8pm and Saturday, December 3rd 10-3, as well as during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, December 7th 5:30-8pm and Thursday, December 8th 12:30-2:30.
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account.
Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute!
Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship
directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
CLICK HERE to visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more about volunteer opportunities and get started with eWallet and online shopping.
Also, CLICK HERE to learn more about "All For Books."
Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading,

STEM CLUB
Calling ALL Inventors….
Do you see a problem that you would like to try and fix?
Do you have a solution in mind and need a way to share your great idea?
Are you ready to put your creativity and imagination to work to help others?
Beckwith Middle School is looking for you to join the STEM Club as we participate in the 2023 Massachusetts Invention Convention, a part of Invention Convention Worldwide.
Invention Convention Worldwide is a global K-12 invention education program that teaches students problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship and creativity skills and builds confidence in invention, innovation and entrepreneurship for life.
The program at Beckwith is open to all students in grades 6, 7 & 8 and there is no cost to join. STEM Club will run during the months of Dec., Jan., and Feb. In mid February (date to be determined) all participants will present the problem they identified and their solution to a select panel of judges from the district. The top qualifying individuals, or teams, will move on to the State Competition and possibly to the National and Global Events as well.
2022 was our first year entering the competition and 6th grader Evelyn Cooper won our local event and went on to the Virtual Massachusetts Championship. Out of 58 middle school entries Evelyn finished just out of the top 3 and brought home an Honorable Mention.
We will have an informational meeting for all interested students on Wed. November 30th, 2022 after school until 3:30 PM. I will go over the schedule and the expectations. Bring your questions and your ideas.

NOVEMBER LUNCH MENU
Please remind your children that BREAKFAST is FREE!
They can grab a breakfast on their way to homeroom!
MYSCHOOLBUCKS INFORMATION
Account payments can be made through MySchoolBucks.com using a debit/credit card or checks at all cafeteria registers. Please make checks payable to “Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District” and include your student’s full name in the memo line.
School meals, both breakfast and lunch, are once again free (see below); however, all students must use the point of sale system to obtain a free lunch. Please encourage your child to remember their lunch pin number because it helps to move along the lunch lines. If a student forgets their pin, then the cafeteria workers need to look it up and this stalls the lunch line.
Students will need to pay for snacks not included with the free meal and this is the reason why a parent would want to put money on their child's account.
IMPORTANT DATES
November 23 - Early Release Day (11:45 a.m. dismissal)
November 24-25 - Thanksgiving Recess
