Reasons for U.S entry into the Great War
The main reason the U.S. entered World War 1, or the Great War, was the sinking of the Lusitania by Germany submarines along the U.S. East Coast. Another reason for U.S. involvment was the Zimmerman Telegram. This was a telegram wrote by Germany and sent to Mexico but, it was intercepted by England who held on to it for three months and sent it to the U.S. The telegram stated that if Mexico attacked the U.S than Mexico would gain back all the land they lost to America. Also another reason the the U.S. Joining the War was the presure President Wilson was under facing the upcoming election. There was no choice at the time but to go to war.
