NEWS FROM THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
New Year, New Name!
Student Services Department
Our Central Bucks “Guidance” Department will now be known as “Student Services” Department. We are making this name change K-12 to better represent the wide-range of services that our Department provides to students and families across the district. While we certainly provide “guidance” to students, our School Counselors, School Psychologists, Student Support Social Workers, Student Support Counselors, and Nurses provide services including academic planning; college and career planning; social and emotional programs and initiatives; physical wellness; connections to community resources (financial, housing, food, services); and educational record management. We look forward to seeing students and families in our Student Services Office!
Student Schedules for the 2022-2023 school year will be available on the Student Portal on Friday, August 19th at 8:00 AM. Schedules will not be mailed home. Please note that no schedule changes will be made unless it is a request for a level change (approved by administration) or a prerequisite issue.
Class of 2023 Info:
- Parent/Guardian Info Session -- College Application Process: The Senior Counselors, Lori Bagnick and Lisa Corr, are hosting an Info Session on the College Application Process for Parents/Guardians on Thursday, 9/8/22 from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM in the CBW Auditorium, just prior to Back to School Night (which starts at 7pm). We will review the basics of the students’ application process, including the Common Application, requesting transcripts and recommendations in Naviance, and more. Before attending, it would be helpful for families to familiarize themselves with the College Application Process website. You may even print out the College Packet, and bring it with you to the Session to take notes if desired. Your students will be given this packet at the Student Workshop (see below).
- Student Workshops– College Application Process: All Seniors who plan to apply to college this year should attend College Application Process Workshops which will be held during Lunch & Learn, during the first 2 weeks of school. These workshops will review all aspects of the application process, and review the steps students need to take to allow them to request transcripts and letters of recommendation through Naviance. Students will receive a College Packet, with step-by-step instructions, and there will be time for Q&A. Specifics about times/locations of these Workshops will be sent to students via email and Canvas announcements.
