PGHS Senior Named National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist

Congratulations to Senior, Elizabeth Driehaus (pictured below) for being named a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. National Merit Scholars are selected by the test results of the PSAT during a student's Junior year. Liz competed against over 60,000 students across the US and was one of 16,000 students to be named a Semi-Finalist. Now, Liz will submit her SAT scores, GPA, and essays to become one of 7,000 students nationwide who will be honored as a National Merit Scholar Finalist.

PSAT's Coming to PGHS

Pottsgrove will be administering the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:30 am. The guidance department recommends that ALL juniors take this valuable test. The PSAT is a low cost way for juniors to practice for the SAT. In December, results and test materials will be returned to students. These materials along with a college board website access code will allow you to access on-line practice tools that offer another way to prep for the big test. In addition, the PSAT is the ONLY way to be considered for entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program.

If interested, please register in the guidance office, first come first served, by Monday October 5th. Registration cost is $15 and it includes the test fee and pre-test practice book. Checks can be made out to Pottsgrove High School and cash is accepted.
