Gala Teacher Experiences

As part of the gala this year some of our faculty and staff have hosted some fantastic student experiences. Four CE2 students made beautiful acrylic spin art with Ms. April. Ms. Annie hosted an archeology dinosaur dig with some of our CP students and GS students had a fun afternoon with Spanish theatre this week. Thanks to our team for your time and to our families for the support! We hope our students had as much fun as we did. We will continue to share photos of these events with you as they occur.

Spring Fund Run - Thur. & Fri., 4/29 - 4/30

Our FUNd Run will now take place over two days on Thursday, April 29th & Friday, April 30th. Our theme this year is a Leadership Run. What makes a good leader? We are honoring those who have come before...the risk-takers, the firsts, those who move others, who make a difference, create change, forge ahead, and are pioneers in their fields. Often these leaders forge their own path among obstacles or break barriers that previously existed thereby opening doors for others who come next. From Jackie Robinson to Neil Armstrong to Madame Curie.... we pay homage to those who walked so that we can run!

Please review the information above about registration and refer to the email sent out on Monday, as our event will look different this year due to COVID. Unfortunately, we can't host families to watch. However, our staff and faculty will be cheering and celebrating our awesome runners.

Our goal is to raise $10,000, so thank you for registering here with a $20 fee to cover the special Fund Run T-shirt, pedometer, and swag, and donating (click on the can't attend DONATE button) to your students either in flat amounts or per lap donations here. You may also sign up to be a Fund Run sponsor with a $250 donation to help us reach our goal and offset costs.

Thank you to the following FUNd Run Family Sponsors:

The Aimard, Brandan Gates, Ellis Mirgatia, Farnia Cruz, Havens, Herath, James, Kim Ziegler, Laniel, Llorente De la Sierra, Musalem, Strub, & Truchard Families.

RACE DETAILS:

Our students will run or walk as many laps around our building as they can in 30 minutes during the school day. Each class will have a predesignated time slot over the 2 day period (they will participate on just one of the days), only running with students in their class either Thursday, 4/29, or Friday, 4/30 per this schedule:

  • Thursday, 4/29: CE1 and Up
  • Friday, 4/30: PS - CP

Registered students will receive a Race T-shirt & a pedometer to track their time and will turn it back in for us to tally the final results. We will omit passing out bracelets during the event, but will be sure to give students a medal, their bracelets sanitized and bagged, and a certificate the week following the run. Students will wear masks as they can during their walk or run but may take breather breaks along the path, as long as they remain spaced from their classmates. All students should ensure they have their own water bottle to use and fill during the race. We will pass out individually wrapped treats in celebration which they can eat after their run/in their classrooms.

THE DAY OF THE RUN

* Students should get plenty of rest, bring their refillable water bottle from home, and eat a good breakfast and lunch to stay energized!

* They may wear Fund Run shirts or dress up as their favorite leader, pioneer, or role model - or dress as the leader they would like to be one day!

* The race will happen during school hours, so pick up will be at the regular time. The campus will be closed from vehicles during the day. Afterschool care will continue as usual.

School Picture Days - Wed. & Thur., 5/12 - 5/13

We are very excited to announce that we will be using Captured Austin Photography for our school pictures this year! Please click this link for more information about picture days at AIS, to read about Captured Austin's modern school portraits, and to learn how you can purchase digital prints, regular prints, and fine art prints of your child(ren). Once the proofs are ready, we will send you a link, where you can make your purchases online, directly through the photographer.

CP-CM2 classes will be photographed on 5/12, and PS-GS and Middle School classes will be photographed on 5/13; however, sibling photographs will be taken on both days. Please look over this schedule carefully, since your child may need to be dressed for pictures on both days. *Please note that due to our COVID protocols it is not possible to photograph all classes and all siblings in one day. Read the information carefully, since some siblings may need to come dressed for pictures both days.*

We will continue to uphold AIS COVID protocols throughout picture days. Cohorts will be kept separate, and students will not be sitting or touching any props for their photographs. Students will remain masked at all times, except for their individual and sibling portraits, where they will remove their masks momentarily. During their individual and sibling portrait, all other students and adults will be physically distanced from your child(ren), masked, and outdoors. Students will have their masks in hand during their photographs so they can be replaced immediately, once the photos are taken. Masks will be worn for all group photos. If you have any questions or concerns, please email headofschool@austinis.org.
