Week of August 19th
What's Happening?
Tuesday is Curriculum Night for grades 3-5. We will begin at 6:30. I look forward to talking to you about the great things we will be doing this year.
Ice Cream sales starts on Monday. Your child may purchase one day at a time and must bring the exact amount. If we have a birthday treat at lunch, I will delay the ice cream until the following day.
Choice cards come home on Fridays. Please initial in the parent spot and return it to school on Monday.
Please return empty Friday Folders on Monday as well.

In this week's Friday Folder: Peanut Allergy info, GMAS results from 4th grade
What are we learning?
Math (Mrs. Lee's Class): Division using models. Knowing multiplication facts is vital to 5th grade math!
Science (Mrs. Lee's Class): Learning the organelles of plant and animal cells as well as their function in the cell. Students need to be studying their vocabulary cards and activities/notes from class. Students will hopefully receive their study guide on Friday. Please send in donations for our cell models Monday.
Social Studies: Turn of the Century - inventors and inventions, mapping out important places and events. Study notes nightly.
Writing: narrative writing - drafting and revising; compound and complex sentences
Reading: Learning to think analytically about what we read, quoting from the text when we write about what we read
Word Study: adding ed, ing and es/s to words
