Inventory, What's That?

a business talk with Tamra Gentry

The Chicago Metal Arts Guild presents...

If you are a studio-based jewelry designer and haven’t the foggiest idea about how to approach inventory management for your business, this presentation will provide you with tips on how to track your inventory from the time it comes through the door, to the time an item is sold and beyond.

We will discuss how to organize your inventory, how to select management systems for inventory tracking, how to achieve and maintain consistency in labeling, how to prepare your inventory for tax time, and more.

Tamra Gentry, an independent jewelry designer, found the “just count it” method suggested by hired accounting professionals insufficient for a business that deals with precious metals. As a result of yearly frustration at tax time, her obsessive-compulsive tendencies and overly-analytical training as a scientist finally prompted her to come up with her own consistent method of tracking, from which even the most inventory-inept can find a workable solution.

Spudnik Press is located at 1821 W. Hubbard Street (east of Damen). Scroll down for a map. Be sure to park in the lot for 1821, not the lot next door for Tablescapes Catering, or you will be towed. Street parking is also available.

This event is free, but Space is limited! Be sure to RSVP!
