From the Desk of Shurandia Holden
Hello Boggess Families,
What an exciting first three days of school we have had at Boggess! Our students are fabulous. The students are adjusting and doing a great job. This week we practiced safety procedures, made new friends, and discussed classroom procedures and expectations. It is truly our privilege to work with your kiddos.
Those of you who are coming through carpool, I promise it gets better. We have lots of new parents who are learning the system. If you are coming through the carpool at dismissal to pick up PreK-2nd graders please stay on the left side as you enter. Leave space so that parents who are going to the back carpool to pick up can get through on the right side. It takes a few days to get the flow. Please be kind and patient.
If you walk up to the doors instead of staying in the carpool line you will have to wait until we complete the carpool line to get your child/children.
Please move to the end of the carpool line to buckle up your child so that we can keep the carpool line moving. Once everyone learns the routine, carpool line is usually completed before 3:00.
Keeping your plate visible so that teachers can see it also helps things run smoothly. Once everyone learns the routine, carpool line is usually completed before 3:00.
During morning drop off, Pre-K parents please drop off at the Pre-K corner. The teachers and staff will open the doors for Pre-K at 7:25.
It was great to see so many parents of 1st and 2nd graders last night at our Back to School meetings. The teachers will be emailing you the presentations so you will have all the information you need to help your child/children have an awesome year.
Our next back to school nights will be Monday, August 15th for 3rd and 4th grade. We look forward to seeing 5th grade parents on Tuesday, August 16th.
Thank you PTA for helping make the first three days of school fantastic!
Touching hearts and minds,
Shurandia Holden

School Meals Information - Return of charging for Meals and application for Free & Reduced Lunches
The United States Department of Agriculture waiver that allowed Plano ISD to provide free meals to all students during the 2021-22 school year has expired. Plano ISD will resume charging for meals during the 2022-23 school year based on student eligibility for meal benefits.
Families who may qualify should complete a federal meal application for free or reduced-price meals, available through Parent Portal or via the website at www.pisd.edu/mealprogram. Click the green SchoolCafé button to begin.
Families who already have a SchoolCafé account can log in to complete the meal application. Families who do not have an account can create one by selecting that option on the main SchoolCafé page. View this SchoolCafe information video for instruction on how to complete the application.
Volunteers
We love our volunteers at Boggess. All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.
Meet the Principal
Hello everyone,
I hope you have had a fantastic summer! At Boggess Elementary, our mission is to inspire successful life-long learners. It is my belief that the school environment should be a welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, learning is a priority for all, connections to the community are strong, and students grow both academically and socially in a safe learning environment.
I love reading, walking, shopping and taking road trips with my family. My husband and I are extremely blessed to have our daughter, her husband and our two wonderful grandchildren nearby.
I am honored to serve the Boggess community and I feel very fortunate to work with such amazing children and such a dedicated staff. I am just as excited for this school year to begin as I was 34 years ago when I first began my career in education. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting those new to the Bengal family.
Working together I know we will make this school year one of growth, excitement, and achievement for all students.
