Football Hosts Vestavia Hills in 2019 Homecoming Game
Hewitt-Trussville will be back in region play this week as they host Vestavia Hills at 7pm Friday night at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium. The Huskies are 4-2 overall on the season and 1-2 in 7A Region 3. The Rebels enter Friday's contest with a 4-1 overall record and sit 2-1 in 7A Region 3.
The Huskies have won the last two meetings against the Rebels. Last season, Coach Josh Floyd's team went on the road and defeated Vestavia Hills 41-6. In 2015, the Huskies picked up a 28-12 victory.
This season, Vestavia Hills opened with wins over Homewood, Spain Park and Tuscaloosa County. After a loss to Mountain Brook, the Rebels defeated Shades Valley 17-0.

Cross Country Travels to Jesse Owens Invitational
The Hewitt-Trussville Cross Country teams will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Moulton for the Jesse Owens Invitational. The HT runners will compete with over 5,000 runners from around the country in one of the biggest events in the Southeast.

Travel approximately 23 miles and you will see the signs to turn right to the park.

Swimming Impresses as 2019 Season Begins
Hewitt-Trussville Swimming opened the 2019 season on Thursday as they traveled to the Honda of Jasper Invitational. The HT girls finished in 4th place overall. Here are some highlights from Thursday's meet:

Jordan Lynn Makes Sportscenter Appearance
Hewitt-Trussville Senior Kicker Jordan Lynn appeared on ESPN2 during the Sportcenter broadcast on September 27. Lynn became the first female to score points in the history of Hewitt-Trussville football program. Lynn has connected on her first six kicks to open the 2019 season. Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.

A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!

Huskies Defeat Clay in Dramatic Fashion
Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Football won two exciting games over Clay last Thursday. The 7th Grade Huskies prevailed 20-14. Noah Dobbins threw a touchdown pass to Jacob Serena with just seconds left in the game. Dobbins finished with 153 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Igbinoghene added a touchdown reception as well.
On defense, Alijah Gardner had seven tackles and an assist. Nyle Winston had six tackles. Hunter Curtis had an interception return for a touchdown.
The 8th Grade Huskies won a 20-18 overtime thriller. The Huskies trailed 12-0 at halftime, but came back to tie it and send the game to overtime. In the OT period, Kennedy Mitchell scored a touchdown and Peyton Floyd added the two point conversion. Clay scored a touchdown but the Husky defense stopped the two point conversion.
Kennedy Mitchell had 19 carries for 106 yards. Peyton Floyd had 12 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Brett Mosley added a touchdown reception.
Zavier Austin had seven tackles. KaDarius Barnes had six tackles, one assist and four sacks. Tyrell Averhart had five tackles, one assist and two sacks.
MS Cross Country Continues to Run Well
HTMS Cross Country traveled to Heardmont Park over the weekend for the Oak Mountain Invitational. The HT Girls finished 2nd out of 12 teams. Kylee Sisk placed 2nd, Kinley Harris placed 6th, Ellen Thomas finished 9th, Ellie Christian finished 12th and Ava Legg finished 14th.
The HT Boys finished 3rd out of 15 teams. Lake Williams finished 12th, Jacob Mullinax finished 13th, Aran Cane finished 16th, Oscar Spears finished 22nd and Brooks Maddox finished 30th.
The teams will travel to Moulton this weekend for the Jesse Owens Invitational.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
