MSM's Annual Holiday Food Drive is Underway!
MSM's annual student-run Food Drive has begun and will continue through Friday, December 1st!
Please support MSM's annual Serve Club food drive organized by seniors Maddy Bronson, Addison Arcara, and Siobhan Murphy. Students can bring their non-perishable donations to their advisory. In the spirit of competition, cans will be worth one point, boxes, packages, jars, etc. will be worth two points. The advisory that has the most points at the end of the Food Drive will win a donut party! Our emphasis this year will be on healthy, non-perishable food items, we value quality over quantity! The food drive ends on December 1st.
All food collected will be donated to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, St. Lawrence Church in Buffalo, and St. Francis of Assisi in the City of Tonawanda. Your support is greatly appreciated by our Mounties and by our local community!
Learn About the Prevention of Abuse Through Healthy Relationships
The Zonta Club of Kenmore is an international organization committed to empowering women in our local community and worldwide through service, education, and advocacy. One of the Zonta Club's focuses in advocacy is the upcoming 16 Days of Activism which run from November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, through Human Rights Day, on December 10.
According to The Zonta Club, "Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent, and devastating human rights violations in our world today and is a threat to millions of girls and women online and offline. This violence takes many forms, including physical, sexual, or psychological violence as well as economic abuse and exploitation."
The Zonta Club is charged to take local, national, and international action to influence the making and implementation of laws, as well as changing gender-based attitudes and behaviors to end violence against women and girls.
Please join us on Wednesday, November 29, at 7:00 pm at the Kenmore Library, as The Zonta Club of Kenmore hosts a speaker from the Family Justice Center who will address the Prevention of Abuse Through Healthy Relationships. All are welcome. Parents and teens are especially encouraged to attend.

Volunteers Needed Saturday, December 2nd!
From the Desk of Campus Minister Ms. Monica Saltarelli:
We are excited to announce that MSM's Serve Club will be helping to set up a household for a newly arrived refugee family on Saturday, December 2nd, in conjunction with Journey's End Refugee Services Home Again Program.
The Home Again Program is a unique opportunity for volunteer groups, including schools, businesses, faith communities or just a group of family and friends, to work with Journey's End to make a house a warm, welcoming home for a newly-arriving refugee family.
Refugee families arrive with little to no resources for establishing households during their first few months of resettlement. Journey's End relies heavily on donations from the community to provide these families with essential home furnishings, such as tables, couches, dressers, dishes, etc., and other household items like toiletries and cleaning supplies.
Serve Club is looking for a committed group of volunteers to help transform an empty apartment into a cozy home for a newly-arrived refugee family on Saturday, December 2nd. We hope to bring a sense of security and community to a family that has so little to start their new life here in Buffalo.
We are still in need of many items on the donation list. Please visit the Journey's End Donation List to view full a list of items needed. Sign up to donate and help Journey's End today. This is a wonderful opportunity for our MSM community to help a family in need as we approach the Advent season.

PSAT Scores Now Available for Viewing
From the Desk of Mrs. Kelli Shepard:
PSAT/NMSQT scores were released on Thursday, November 16th. Students received an email with directions on how to access their scores. Scores are also available directly on their College Board accounts. Each student created a College Board account this fall if they did not already have one.
On the College Board website, you will be able to view the Total Score, Reading & Writing Score, and Math Score. College Board can also predict how your student will perform on the SAT if they choose to test.
If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s PSAT score, I invite you to contact me anytime at 716-877-1358 ext. 207 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, and I would be happy to talk further.
New Faculty Spotlight
Introducing Ms. Katherine Pizzuto:
- What classes are you teaching at MSM this year? Library Media
- Where did you go to college and what did you study? I studied at Daemen University for Art and Business Administration. For my masters I went to the University at Buffalo for Library and Information Science.
- A fun or interesting fact about me: I love painting and fine art!
- My favorite thing to do in Buffalo is: I can't pick just one! If I had to narrow it down it would be going to Bisons games, the theater, museums, and restaurants!
- One of my heroes/heroines is: My hero is my cousin Andrea Pizzuto Fink. During a long battle with cancer her magnetic personality never changed. She knew how to make everyone feel welcomed and have a great time.
- Something I hope that my students will learn in my classroom this year: I want students to know that the library is a special place for everyone. It is a unique mix of learning and leisure. I hope to make the MSM library a great place to take a break and learn independently.
