PK-2: Perspective Taking: Is it a duck or rabbit?
- Listen to this fun read-aloud and decide if you think it's a duck or a rabbit!
- Can you look at it from a different lens?
- Can you see WHY someone may think differently than you?
- Does your opinion ever change as the book progresses?
- Ask your family members. Is anybody really right?
- Then make your own Duck/Rabbit puppet!
Make your own duck puppet! Or rabbit puppet?!
3rd-5th Grade Lesson: Perspective Taking
Ten-year-old Muna Zayed is one of around 1.7 million internally displaced children in Yemen, the world’s largest humanitarian emergency. The situation in Yemen is dire, and the need to reduce the additional strain of coronavirus spreading is urgent.
Muna lives with her family in Al Sha’ab camp in Aden, in the south of the country, after ongoing fighting forced them to flee their home in Taiz. Muna’s school is closed as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But she still wants to show the world what her day looks like.
Watch the video and check out the essay for more details. After watching, think about the similarities and differences that you may have with Muna.

Taking Care of Your Physical Health
Marathon Kids, an AISD partner, has put out a challenge to members of the Austin community. For every 20 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise you can earn a mile of exercise. When you reach 26.2 miles (that’s a full marathon!) you can enter your name into their online system. The first 26.2 miles will qualify you for a free Marathon Kids sweatband. After that you can enter your name up to 3 more times for additional entries into their National Running Day raffle that happens on June 3, 2020. This physical activity can be added to your daily or weekly routine with a fun incentive to keep you going!
Here is a link to their tracker and to get your free sweatband.
They also have trackers and activities online for children. Here is a link to the kid’s activities.
