The Spry Scoop
September 29, 2017
Thank you to all that could attend our Open House this week. We continue to tweak and improve this evening. We tried something new at the 6th-grade level this year, and are looking at options to do the same at 7/8th to help avoid any 'waiting' lines for connecting with teachers.
On Wednesday, October 4th, I will be holding my first Coffee with the Principal. Parents are invited in at 9:00 am to the Spry Library. This is a PTSA sponsored activity that provides parents the opportunity to get updates from me, ask questions, and learn more about Spry.
Please continue to check out the information enclosed in our newsletters each week. I know how busy you and your child's lives are, so we continue to try to provide this information in an easy to read and access manner.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a great weekend!
-Jim
Backpacks
I have started noticing more students carrying larger backpacks from class to class. Our classrooms are not large enough to safely accommodate the extra space these bags take up in the aisles, or around desks. I also worry about the extra stress this is putting on our kid's bodies.
We have not made this a pressing issue with students to start the year. So, I am asking for your help and support. Please encourage your child to use their locker. If they have issues with their locker, they need to let us know so we can help. Also, please encourage your child to use a smaller drawstring, or other type bag during the school day. This will help them with organization, as well as keep our classrooms/hallways safer for all as they move around the building. There are many low-cost options available. Spry PTSA will also be including drawstring bags in the upcoming on-line apparel sale.
Thank you for your support.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal Activation Codes & Passwords
Parents looking for Activation Codes, need to email IC_Portal@webstercsd.org for this information or follow the directions at Parent Portal Directions. We will use the email address from the request and compare it to the information in our Infinite Campus (IC) System for that parent(s)/guardian(s) to verify that it is the parent asking for this information and send the information back to them via email along with directions for activation.
Parents can also find this email address on the portal login page by going to our Portal Web Page or from The District Homepage they can click on the link Parent and Student Portal. They will be directed to the Portal Login page with information on the email address for questions and concerns.
We want to encourage all parents and students to download the Parent/Student Portal App. Parents and students can schedule, grades, assignments and attendance data using the Infinite Campus Mobile Portal. Lunch Break
Lunch Break is back at Spry this Fall, and parent volunteers are always needed. We have dates in October (10/17 & 10/24) and November (11/14 & 11/21). Lunch Break is a PTSA led program where students come out into the hallway after they eat their lunch, and they do a craft while visiting with wonderful senior citizen volunteers.
There are two ways to volunteer during any of the program's four Tuesday dates. You can come to school and volunteer your time, or send in a homemade baked good. Your job as a parent volunteer at Spry during Lunch Break would simply be to help with setup (or clean up), hand out crafts and guide students to available seats at craft tables, and help the senior citizens if they need any replacement supplies, etc.
Below is a link to a Google Doc. You can click on the words lunch break to sign up, or send an email to Shannan. The information you type in on the google doc will be saved automatically.
Thank you!
