A Note from Mrs. V.
Hello Forest Families!
We are so excited about tonight's BIG EVENT! The Enchanted Forest runs from 6:30-8:00PM TONIGHT, Friday, October 14th. The weather looks like it's going to be mild, dry and SUNNY...YAY! Don't forget to bring a bag to collect your candy in. We're looking forward to seeing all of our students and families in their Halloween costumes...see you in the FOREST!
If you are looking for other trick or treating opportunities, our Farmington Transportation department is hosting a Trick-or Treat event on October 22nd from 12-3. The flyer attached gives more information.
The month of October is Bully Prevention month. On Wednesday, October 19, we will celebrate Unity Day by wearing or sharing ORANGE to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent students from being bullied.
Have a fantastic FOREST weekend!
Robin
🎃Halloween Celebrations🎃
All Forest students and staff will enjoy an OUTDOOR Halloween costume parade and indoor classroom parties on Friday, October 28th. Parents and guests are welcome to view the OUTDOOR parade, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. This parade has become an annual tradition at our school and is enjoyed by all who attend. The classroom parties will be begin right after the parade concludes. Please look for volunteer sign-up opportunities from your room parents in the next few weeks. All volunteers will need to have a background check, if you haven’t completed one yet for the 22-23 school year.
We are encouraging students to wear their costumes to class on Friday, October 28th. We want to make the day fun and not a scary one for our youngest students, so we are putting the following guidelines in place:
1) All costumes need to be age-appropriate for elementary students.
2) Costumes should not be based on making fun of real people, real human traits or cultures.
3) If the costume is scary, is the fear factor appropriate for this age children?
4) If your child is wearing a historical costume, make sure that it does not present misinformation or inaccuracies.
5) Students MAY NOT, under any circumstances, bring toy guns, knives, swords or other weapons to school even if they are parts of their costume. Included in this ban are hockey sticks, baseball bats and other pieces of sports equipment because these items present potential safety hazards.
6) Costume masks are fine as long as the students can see clearly through them. And please, avoid any costumes that have fake blood or gore-too scary for many of our students.
7) If parents decide to dress up along our parade route, you may not wear a mask, we must be able to recognize who you are.
We thank you for helping to make our Halloween recognition a pleasant and fun-filled experience for children of all age levels. Contact the office at 248-785-2068 if you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of your child’s costume.
