DHS Families,
Thank you to the parents who sent in their candidate information for the DHS SLT. I will be sending out voting instructions this Friday. This Friday is also our first home football game. Come out and support our bulldogs but remember that CSD, DHS and the City of Decatur have a mask mandate even for outdoor events.

Dekalb County Board of Health Mobile Vaccination Event Today!
The Dekalb County Board of Health mobile vaccination unit will be returning to provide COVID-19 vaccines today at Decatur High school (upper parking lot).
Come out for your first or second dose. This does not include booster shots at this time.
This is free to everyone in the community over the age of 12. Please share.
Vaccines will be available from 5 - 7 pm today.
Any child between the age of 12-17 receiving the COVID-19 vaccine must provide proof of their age and a parent/guardian must attend with them.

Senior Pictures
Seniors have until November 10th to get their picture taken by CADY studios. If you have not scheduled an appointment for Aug 27 or 28 you must go to one of Cady's studios to get your picture taken for inclusion in the yearbook. The closest studio, The Atlanta Studio, is openand is taking appointments now. The Atlanta studio is located at 2030 Powers Ferry Rd., Suite 520 Atlanta, Georgia 30339 (near the new Braves Stadium). Anyone who needs financial assistance for the sitting fee should reach out to Principal Lofstrand, rlofstrand@csdecatur.net.

Decatur Career Academy is offering The Google IT Support Certificate online for students age 16+ during the 2021-22 school year. The certificate is a hands-on, online program designed to prepare beginner learners for entry-level jobs in IT support.

Parent Volunteers Needed for College Essay Workshop
Each year, DHS hosts a college essay workshop to help students review and refine their college admissions essays. We rely on volunteers to make this program a success, and it is an easy way to give 2 hours of your time from the comfort of your own home!
The essay workshop will be conducted via Zoom, so a computer and Wi-Fi will be necessary to participate. Training materials will be provided, including guidelines for helping students begin, revise, or polish their essays. Volunteers can sign up for one or more evenings September 13th-16th from 7pm-9pm. There are already have over 40 students who have signed up to participate, so please consider helping out!

Announcing: The Inaugural Bulldog Legacy Cross Country 5k
The DHS Cross Country team is hosting a community 5k race on the trails at Legacy Park! The race is a fundraiser for the cross country team and will take place on Saturday, September 25. It is a 2-loop, 5k course which goes through fields and wooded areas. There will be two waves: All those expecting to run 25 minutes or less will start at 7:30 AM. All those expecting to complete the race in over 25 minutes will start at 8:15 AM.
Packet pick up will be Friday, September 24 from 5 PM to 8 PM, or the morning of the race starting at 6 AM. All participants registered by September 22 will receive a commemorative race t-shirt!
Due to the width of the trails, this race is not dog friendly.

From DBB - First Home Football Game of the 2021 Season - Friday!
Come with your family and friends and cheer on the Bulldogs as they take on Wesleyan. The first home game is a “gold out” so wear your Bulldog best and get ready to make some noise!
Keller Knapp Realty has a special spirit item for the first 500 fans in the gate. And Decatur Bulldog Boosters will be selling swag and flags and giving away spirit items at our table by the main gate. Come see us!
Come hungry because there will be lots of yummy food for sale! Hattie Marie’s BBQ is selling BBQ chicken and pork sandwich meals in the lower concession stand. King of Pops will have a stand near the ticket booth. And Marco’s Pizza will be selling slices of pizza in the upper concession stand.

Bulldog Flags
Decatur Bulldog Boosters (DBB) is building excitement about the upcoming school year and the return to normalcy by selling Bulldog Flags so that the entire Decatur community can show our spirit.
A Bulldog Flag costs $40 or is free if you become a DBB Sponsor (at any level) or purchase a Family Member (or above).
These are durable, outside flags that measure approx. 3’x 5’ and can be attached to a flag pole, hung in a window, or displayed on a wall. All proceeds go to support 1000 student-athletes on 45 teams representing 14 sports at Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School.

Homework Help: We are continuing our Virtual Pals tutoring program in which we pair a 2nd-8th grade student with an upper high school student or adult volunteer to help with homework, time management, and motivation. Could you be a mentor? We’re also seeking 15 women and 15 men volunteers to serve as mentors for our AIM Scholars mentoring program. Third-grade students are paired with an adult mentor who helps them by supporting their Academics and explore their Interests; Mentors also help their students connect to educational and enrichment opportunities.
