The Pizitz Post
For Students, Parents and Families - January 10, 2022
Building Character
Moving forward, we plan to provide opportunities for students to see character on display in and around our school. Already, many of our students have been discussing their personal goals for the year ahead and have included elements of our core values in his/her goal-setting efforts. In talking about character, we know that we will be able to hold each other to a high standard and grow together.
This Friday, our school has the opportunity to participate in a virtual assembly with author, speaker, and child advocate, Mrs. Liz Huntley. Liz is a lawyer in Birmingham. She has also dedicated much of her time to advocating for students and sharing her story with students and teachers all around our city and nation. She wrote the book, More Than a Bird. We look forward to students hearing her story, and learning how she has learned through adversity. She plans to highlight the character traits that she has seen grow over time in her own life.
Lost and Found Donated
Please make sure to put a first and last name on everything brought to school. This includes jackets, hoodies, lunchboxes, pencil pouches, books and water bottles.
Students can check the lost and found bins located near the cafeteria or either of our two gyms.
Grades & Attendance
As a reminder, anytime your student is absent, a written excuse should be provided within 3 days of your student's return to school. If you know in advance that an absence will occur, please complete the Pre-Excused Absence Request form which can be found on our website here.
A student is allowed up to 10 absences (for the school year) excused through either a parent note or pre-excused request.
Excuses can be emailed to Mary Watson at watsonme@vestavia.k12.al.us .
Chromebooks
We have been reminding our students:
- The technology fee collected at the beginning of the year provides students the opportunity to get another Chromebook if his/her Chromebook is broken or not working appropriately.
- A lost charger costs $25.00. We do not have additional chargers to make available to students.
- There is a replacement fee for a lost Chromebook as well.
Please help us by ensuring that your child is caring for his/her Chromebook, charges it each night, and brings it to school each day.
