Stanwood Middle School

Family Message - September 2nd, 2021

Big picture

Good evening Stanwood Middle School Families!

We had a fantastic and energetic first day of school! Please make sure you call or email if you or your student have any questions from today. We know there are many new things, including lots of new teachers, lots of new procedures and expectations, and our lunch rooms look different and the procedures are a little different. We really appreciate all our students and how patient they were today. We will have many tired kids and adults tonight!

If your student needs to check out a Chromebook they can do so before school, at lunch, or after school.

We know that traffic was a mess in town and busses ran late all over the District today. We hope this will clear up as the school days progress. Thank you for your patience as students learn their bus routes and we get our after school procedures cleaned up.

Our bus to the YMCA has started. Students must bring a parent note (or have parents call the office) to get a pass for the bus. This will be a permanent pass and only one note or phone call is needed.

We know many of you would like to connect directly with teachers, so here is a list of email addresses for our teachers:

As I mentioned yesterday, new this year, to avoid congestion in our hallways, students will not be released to go to their classes until 7:25 a.m. in the mornings. Students will have plenty of time to eat breakfast in the cafeteria before school when they arrive, but students who finish eating or are not eating lunch will have to remain in the foyer or library before school.

To help us avoid congestion in our common areas, if you are dropping your student off in the mornings please do so as close to the start of school at 7:40 a.m. as possible. We appreciate your help!

I've included information below from previous Family Messages.

Our Family Messages will come out each Saturday morning from this point forward, but as usual please do not hesitate to call or email if you need anything or have questions!

Have a great night!

Tod Klundt

Information from previous Family Messages below:

All schedules are live in Skyward and all requests for changes are currently up to date. If you made a request and you don't see it, please email Ms. Christmas at

The last day for schedule changes is September 10 for the first semester.

We will have stations set up in the gym before school starts on Thursday, September 2 for students to pick up their schedules to make sure they have the most accurate version. At 7:25 students will go to their first period class if they are finished with breakfast.

Lunches are based on fourth period classes. If a student has 4A on their schedule, then they will have lunch before fourth period. If a student has 4B on their schedule, then they will have lunch after fourth period.

Teachers with first lunch:

ten Hoopen

Teachers with second lunch:

A reminder that all 8th grade students will eat in the West Gym. Seventh graders will eat in the cafeteria for the first half of their lunch while sixth graders go outside and enjoy some free time. Half way through the lunch period, sixth graders will come into the cafeteria to eat lunch.

Ms. Fox's Farewell Message

As mentioned previously, Ms. Fox left to work closer to home. Change is tough! She wanted to send a message to all of the 7th and 8th graders saying goodbye. We will email all of the students in the 7th and 8th grade her message this week.
