Attendance Conferences
Please stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday for an attendance conference with Mrs. Kimbrell. Conferences will not last more than 5 minutes. I will set up in the conference room. All staff will need to stop by before the holidays. I will put out a sign up sheet by 9:00 am Monday.
Please make sure that you communicate with parents that Friday is an early dismissal day. Class parties will begin at 10:15. We will begin loading buses around 10:45. All teachers will be on duty this day. The quicker we get all students dismissed, the quicker we will all be able to begin our holiday. I would certainly appreciate your help in getting our students home safely.
Due this Week
-Keep in mind that all Christmas decorations will need to be down before we leave for the holidays.
-Go ahead and start planning for another club day....it is scheduled for December 17th.
-Please make sure you schedule your attendance conference with Mrs. Kimbrell Tuesday or Wednesday this week. All staff will need to meet with me before the holidays.
SLO Conferences
What to Expect:
· The purpose of SLO midyear conferences is to monitor progress towards SLO goals and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
· Teachers should gather evidence of student progress and be prepared to review data and identify which students are progressing toward their growth targets and which are struggling.
· Teachers and evaluator(s) can work together to consider potential strategies that the teacher might implement or how instruction can be adjusted for students who do not appear on track to meet their growth goals.
· Teachers should bring to the conference reflections and root causes for off-track performance, strategies that have been attempted for addressing those needs, and plans for addressing learning needs in the future.
· If it is determined that a student target must be revised, then the revisions must take place with full adherence to the administrator’s expectations and district policy.
During the conference:
· Review data and discuss which students are making progress towards their growth targets. Please have this information in chart form.
· Discuss which students are not making progress towards their growth targets
o What seems to be the root causes for off-track performance?
o What strategies have been attempted to address the needs of students not making progress?
o What is the plan for addressing the students’ learning needs in the future?
o We will work together as a team to consider how instruction could be adjusted and any other instructional strategies that could be implemented to meet the needs of the students.
o For students whose growth targets you are proposing to revise due to lack of progress, please make sure that you have the following data with you:
1- How do you progress monitor these students.
2-The following data: (this info is only based on your SLO)
- MAP Data
- 100 BC Level or Math Fluency information
- Current Grades
- Trends in HW
- Conference information (either from guided reading or guided math)
- Progress Monitoring (to include work samples)
- We will also review your professional development plans. You will need to bring evidence of your participation. You will not need to provide any written documentation on your part, but be prepared to discuss how this professional development has changed your instruction. This is discussion only.
What's Going on in Classrooms at BSE
We can't let any student fall through the crack......whether they are your high students or lower performing, we need to ensure that we are constantly monitoring all of our students.
Thank you for your time that you have put into meeting the needs of your students. Thank you for your data that you provided during your conferences.
Any parent would be proud of the way you are monitoring student progress. I think of the way our parents would look at the conversation going on during our conferences....any parent would appreciate the way you are striving to meet the needs of their child.
Thank you
