SCHOLASTIC ART AWARD
Two AP Art students were announced Gold Key Award winners through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Congratulations to Jennifer Tran and Mayci Vannasap for moving into the National Judging phase and having their work displayed at a regional show. Past Scholastic Art and Writing Award recipients include Andy Warhol, Robert Redford, Truman Capote, and Stephen King.
ALL AMERICAN SCHOLAR TEAM
CHS’s Girls State Varsity Swim Team has been named an All American Scholar Team by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America. The 13 girls had an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.898 and a weighted GPA of over 4.5. Congratulations to Allison Chiou, Sydney Chun, Sasha Gesner, Sydney Guenther, Destiny Kling, Alexys Matcuk, Mihaila Milovanovic, Haley Morton, Sarah Quintana, Ashlyn Reidhead, Charlotte Stenmark, and Abby Taylor!
DECA DOMINATES AT STATE
CHS DECA competed in the State DECA competition this weekend and had 14 students qualify as state finalists for their events, and 8 of those qualified for Nationals in April. Congratulations, DECA!

Congratulations to CHS’s Ag Business Management Team for winning first and qualifying for national convention in October! CHS’s Vet Tech team also did a great job and earned 3rd place.
MUSICAL ROCKS THE CCA
CHS’s musical Rock of Ages hit the stage last week, and the CCA was rocking with a fun story and fantastic tunes from Pat Benatar, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and Journey! Congratulations to everyone involved in the awesome show featuring Joey Grado, Casey Likes, Desiree Mendoza, Caleb Dowdle, Faith Sterling, Hailey Palmer, Andru Moeller, Menlo Grohman, and many more talented students. Thanks to Director Ms. Stephanie Likes, Music Director Ms. Lori Lyord, and Choreographer Ms. Marie South for a terrific show!
SPRING SPORTS ASSEMBLY
Last Friday’s Spring Sports Assembly included introductions of spring sports teams as well as performances from band, cheer, pom, Modazz, colorguard, and the cast of Rock of Ages. There’s so much talent at CHS!

CHS Softball celebrated Dr. Seuss and Read Across America with Harford Elementary students last week.

Student Council is proud to present this year’s Prom, The Great Gatsby, on Saturday, April 14th, from 8:00-11:00 pm at Villa Sienna in Gilbert. Tickets are now on sale for $55. The price will increase on April 10th. Also, any CHS student who is not a junior or senior, along with non-CHS students, must have a guest pass turned in to Mrs. Templeton’s office by Friday, April 6th. Guest passes can be found in the bookstore and at the receptionist desk.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS
Per district policy, students have to have their school identification cards on them at all times. Students may take a picture of their school ID and have it available on their phones. If students do not have an ID on them, one will be printed, and a $5.00 replacement fee will be posted to their student account.
ROTARY SPEECH CONTEST
Students, are you interested in representing CHS in the Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest in April? It’s time to prepare your 5-7 minute speech and be prepared to present it to the Chandler High selection committee on Wednesday, March 7th. There will be a nominal monetary prize for the CHS student who competes against other CUSD high schools’ representatives at a Rotary breakfast on April 3rd. Please see your English teacher or Mrs. Templeton for additional information.

Current students interested in being a part of the 2018-2019 Spiritline need to attend the pre-tryout informational meeting on Thursday, March 8th at 5:30 pm in the CTE Lecture hall.

The American Red Cross club is holding a clothing drive for struggling families overseas in unstable countries. Bring any new or gently used clothing you would like to donate to your 2nd hour classroom by March 8th.

Want to prepare for the Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra 2 AzMERIT Math Test? The math department is holding review sessions on March 27th-March 29th from 2:30 – 3:15. Algebra 1 will be in room 420, Geometry in room 411, and Algebra 2 in room 408. Bring a pencil and calculator if you have one.

High school students are selected for their leadership abilities and experiences. The Rotary clubs pay the registration fee for the delegates. Those attending will reinforce their leadership abilities and skills, utilize new methods, learn about their inner selves through a well-rounded exciting, stimulating and busy program.
