Math
Mr. Hart's Class ~ We finished up topics C and D this week. We took the Topic D quiz today that will come home next week. The Topic C quiz is in your Friday folders. We have worked on finding fraction equivalence and adding and subtracting numbers with like and unlike denominators. Overall the kids understand the concepts, but need more practice with using the concept to attain mastery. Next week and the week after Spring Break will be spent preparing for the state math assessment, which is scheduled for May 2,3, and 4.
Mr. Lawton's Class ~ Math has seen a move into equivalent fractions and placing fractions on a number line. I am trying to limit strategies to one or two that help reinforce the basic concept of what fractions mean and how they are valued. Work with computation and fluency, especially multiplication and division, really helps understand the relationship between fractions. Everyone has been doing a great job getting homework in, and our quiz this week showed the result of their hard work with some amazing grades. Students are practicing and preparing for the coming test in our skills block at the beginning of class, and on Prodigy and iReady. If you need log in info let me know.

The Pink group will get a new packet, but won't test until Friday, April 28th. However, the Blue and Yellow groups will test on Thursday, April 13th.
Colonial America Assessments ~ Look for those to come home next week!

Upcoming Field Trips
Monday, June 19th will be our grade level trip to Onanda Park. This trip will cost $2 per student. The cost covers the pavilion rental and the busing to the park. The same procedures apply to this trip. Kids have to ride the bus to the park, but can be dismissed from the park with parents if appropriate paperwork is complete prior to the field trip to date.
More specifics will be coming soon. I wanted parents to have advance notice in case you'd like to join us and so plans can be made around costs. I will send out a google form in first week of May to find out which parents would like to chaperone.
