Our Learning:
Math
This week in Math we continued working with different types of graphs. The students participated in a "Tile Toss" in which they had to toss some tiles and try to land on a target. Afterwards, they measured how far the tile was from the target, converted the measurement to the nearest quarter of a foot and created a line plot with the data. Our test will be next Wednesday, March 25.
Reading:
This week in Reader's Workshop, the students participated in their book club discussion groups. They developed a reading plan as a group and have been having thoughtful discussions about the characters and themes in their novels. We also started our own class blog! The students are able to have a conversation with the whole class or just their book group through this blog. Have them show you what it's all about!
Writing
In Writer's Workshop this week we continued working on a creative writing piece about leprechauns! Some chose to write a story about "How to Catch a Leprechaun" while others chose to write about "If I Caught a Leprechaun...".
Science
This week in Science, the students continued to investigate the Circulatory System. They watched a movie, visited websites, and completed activities about this system. On Friday, the Robert Crown Center for Health came and talked to the students about the Reproductive System. The students learned about how "life begins."
Next week we will begin our unit on The Civil War! The students will learn some background knowledge to prepare them for our simulation after Spring Break.
