April is designated as the Month of the Military Child; a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide. Families, including military children, have a lot of courage when faced with many challenges of military services. These challenges include moving from place to place, have a military loved one leave, changing schools, and saying goodbye to old friends and meeting new friend. Most importantly, it is to celebrate students for being awesome, brave, and strong when facing the challenging adventure of being a military child!

Strategy of the Month: Zones of Regulation

You may have heard your student talk about the Zones of Regulation! This curriculum tool is a great way for student’s to self-regulate their own feelings and behaviors. Each color represents a separate zone in which our feelings belong, such as sad being in the blue zones, anger in the red zone, excited in the yellow zone, and happy in the green zone. It is okay to be in any of these zones as they are common emotions, however, the goal of every day would be to be in the green zone! Finding a calming strategy in each zone will help students get back to the green zone! This is a great visual for students who may need to see what they can do to get calm and happy.
