Fifth Grade Promotion Update:
Save the Date! Promotion will be held on Wednesday, June 16th. We are so proud of our 5th grade students, and we look forward to celebrating our promoting Broncos as they head off to middle school! Please join us during your 5th grade student’s assigned time. As you drive through and take pictures from the car, your 5th grade student will walk on the sidewalk to different stations. There will be several photo opportunities and you can even decorate your car (or, if your family is walking, you can also bring signs) and we will be there to direct the flow of traffic through our stations.
Classic students will come to school as usual on Wednesday, June 16th. At the following times, when the student’s car and family arrive, the student will be called to come out to walk our promotion route while the family drives alongside them (we will have staff available to direct all families.)
9:00-9:45 - Mrs. Zepeda’s Class
9:45-10:30 - Mrs. Thorp’s Class
Classic students will return to class after they complete the promotion procession and stay for the rest of the day.
Virtual students will attend their regular Zoom Session in the morning (attendance will be taken) and will complete assignments asynchronously online before and after the promotion celebration.
10:30-11:30 - Ms. Backman’s Class
11:30-12:30 - Mr. Smith’s Class
ALL FAMILIES (Classic and Virtual):
Please note that our school year does not end until Friday, June 18th. Please ensure your student attends school on Thursday, June 17th and Friday morning, June 18th, as we have many exciting events planned for them and attendance will be recorded. All students will be returning their devices, cords, chargers, cases, hotspots, and books and materials on June 18th, which is a minimum day and our last day of school.
We look forward to celebrating with you!
English Learners Parent Resources
Recently, the VUSD School Board approved the Reclassification Criteria for 2020-2021. Please read the attached document to find out more about how ELL students reclassify.
Dear Bobier Families,
There are many ways to support your English Language Learner while they develop their oral language and reading skills.
Storytelling: share stories from your culture, encourage discussion.
Read Wordless picture books. This is a fun way for parents and children to sit down with books and talk about the stories.
Say rhymes and sing songs: These can help develop their oral language skills, such as tone and word stress.
Visit the local library to encourage a love of reading.
Engage in conversation: Ask questions and encourage detailed answers.
The resources linked below provide information about how you can help build your child's reading and language skills at home. These resources will help you find tips and activities to help your child learn at home.
We are wrapping up our collaboration with UCSD on the Safer at School Early Alert Pilot, also known as SASEA. SASEA is an early alert monitoring system for COVID-19 through daily wastewater and surface samples. In order to keep our community informed and working together to prevent the spread of Covid, we will be providing ongoing information about the study findings. Last week all of the wastewater and surface samples came back negative.
If you would like to participate in this important project, please return the Opt-In forms as soon as possible. Please view the informational video below.
Don’t Forget Your Water Bottles!
The temperatures in Vista are warming up and we want to ensure that students stay hydrated. Please make sure to send your child to school with a refillable water bottle. Our drinking fountains have all been tuned into filling stations so it is important all students come prepared with reusable bottles to refill. Please clean the water bottles daily. We will also continue to accept water bottle donations. We want to ensure our students stay safe, healthy, and hydrated!
Student Pick Up Important Information
If you are having anyone pick up your son or daughter from Bobier Elementary School office please make sure you add them to your emergency card online through your parent portal account or come update your contacts in the front office. Please call the office in advance to inform us if someone other than parent or guardian will be picking up your child from the office.
We are required to check ID for all adults who pick up students from school. Thank you for helping us keep all of our students safe.
