Scenes from Memorial Last Week!
March 7, 2022
Good Morning Memorial Families,
This morning began our transition to a “mask flexible” environment. We spent some time with the students on Friday during our All School Meeting educating our students on respectful interactions with others who are making a different choice than you are with regards to masking. We have an awesome opportunity to teach children how to be kind to others who may feel differently and we shared some general reasons why some families may continue to mask, including:
Not wanting to get sick
Feeling more comfortable wearing one
Living with someone who is more vulnerable
Family decision
Working closely with someone else and not being able to keep space/distance
Not being old enough to get vaccinated
I hope that every child comes home today and moving forward feeling supported and comfortable with the decision that your family made. As always, if there are any challenges you are facing, feel free to reach out to me directly.
We are nearing the end of Trimester 2 already, if you can believe that! Report cards will be available to families via Powerschool beginning on Tuesday, March 22nd. We have reached the best time of the school year in terms of momentum with learning and it is so exciting to see our students making such terrific gains not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
And finally, follow along each week in the month of March as Memorial participates in the ST Math “March Mathness” event. Classrooms are competing each week for the higher average puzzles solved per child. Each Monday we will update the brackets to determine who moves on to the next round. Our school has surpassed the 1 MILLION mark in puzzles solved as a school this year, and our school is nearing our school goal of an average of 70% completion of the ST Math program. I am proud of our students’ perseverance and excitement around ST Math this year and we are seeing big gains in mathematical proficiency with the combined implementation of ST Math and our new Bridges curriculum.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
