What We are Learning
Reading: We are very excited to continue our Folktales unit. This week, we will be comparing and contrasting various fairy tales from around the world. We will discuss how storytelling is connected to culture. We will continue to practice with the RAPS strategy for our mClass written comprehension questions: R-restate the question, A- answer the question, P-prove it (where did you find it in the book), S- summarize.
Writing: Students will begin writing their own folktales this week.
Fundations: We will begin Unit 11 on Monday. Please look for more information in your child's homework folder.
Math: We continue addition and subtraction within 100 and move to addition and subtraction within 1,000. We will focus primarily on subtraction this week during our whole group focus lessons. Please refer to the strategies sheet for the strategies that we use in class for help with homework.
Science: We are still enjoying Sound School! Last week, we focused on the Chain of Sound (source, medium, receiver). We will continue sound school on Wednesday. Mark you calendars! Our Sound School performance at the Orange Peel is on April 14th from 9:00 am-11:00 am.
