WE. ARE. BACK!

Parents of Preschool-2nd Grade Students...we are so excited to have your students start school in-person on September 22nd & 23rd!

Here is a bulleted list of instructions for you/your child:

  • Health Procedures - please click to open and read!

  • Before School

    • School Breakfast program in the cafeteria starts at 8:45 am. Breakfast is free this year through December 2020.

    • All other students should report to the campus no sooner than 9:00 am. Students will not be playing on the playground/grass/blacktop before the first bell, rather they will report to the line up location for their classroom. The first bell rings at 9:10, and the tardy bell rings at 9:15.

    • Students that arrive after 9:15 are to report to the main entry, with their parent/guardian. Press the doorbell/call button to be admitted to school.

    • On the first two days of school (September 22nd-25th), students are to go directly to their classroom through the playground/outside access door.

    • School adults will be on hand to receive students from buses, cars/vans as well as students that arrive on foot or bicycle...and they will guide/direct them to their playground/outside access door.

    • School adults will provide guidance during recess as games and activities will be more structured (sort of like PE).

    • Until further notice, the large playground equipment will be off limits.

    • Line up at end of recess as directed by the classroom teacher.

    • Students will wash hands/use hand sanitizer upon returning from recess.

  • Lunch

    • Hand sanitizer will be available on the way into the cafeteria and on the way out of the cafeteria.

    • Students will be seated in safely distanced spaces with their classmates in the cafeteria.

    • Hot lunch is free this year through December 2020.

    • Cold lunch - students need to be able to open all items in their lunch boxes/bags on their own because the supervisors will be limiting contact and will be cleaning tables while supervising.

    • Students will go to recess with their grade level. Hand sanitizer will be available at the exits.

    • Students will wear masks when playing within 6 feet of others.

If you have a way to sign and return the attached Medication Authorization form, please do so. If not, we will bring one out for you to sign. Come anytime from 9:00-4:00.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

Please welcome, Sarah Brandt, our new Shadow Hills School Psychologist! Mrs. Brandt shares with us a "virtual calming room" website for all to access with links for everything self-care and mindfulness. Here is an excerpt from the website:

"We are operating in uncharted territory right now that nobody could have possibly imagined or prepared for. Your Boise Schools Student Services Team (social workers, counselors, school psychs and nurses) want you to know that your feelings are valid, no matter what they are. You might feel scared, confused, overwhelmed, angry, alone, grateful, or completely calm. You might feel many things at once, like being upset that an event was cancelled, but happy that you can wear pajamas all day. Your feelings are normal; the situation is not. Don't forget to breathe."

This Virtual Peace Room is a place for students and families to find tools and strategies for managing emotions and feelings. We are here to support you!
