TMS Professional Learning Day
January 4th, 2016
The TMS Team!!
It is so great to be able to have an opportunity to provide quality instructional tools to the amazing teachers here at TMS. This day is made possible because of the talent already here as well as those that participated in the recent survey that requested some of this information. It will be a great day to take some time to meet together and expand the tools in our instructional toolboxes.

Active Learning
Are students falling asleep in your class? Get those kids moving! Learn different ways to incorporate kinesthetic movement into your inspiring lessons.
Best Practice, Teaching Resources and Ideas
In this session we will be covering several popular websites, apps, and ideas that can be used by you and your students to share learning, show learning, and assess learning. This session will be most beneficial for newer teachers, but experienced teachers are welcome to get some new ideas, or share what they are using in their classroom and how!
Canvas for Beginners
This session will provide a basic overview of how to set up a course and some tips for using Canvas effectively in your classroom.
Canvas for More Advanced Users
Classroom Management and Engagement in the Classroom
Say Goodbye to DR’s: Building Relationship with students
Communication and Collaboration (Students and Teachers)
One of the most important aspects of a 21st century classroom is engaging the students in collaboration with their peers and effectively communicating through various mediums. The best way to teach communication and collaboration is to model it. This session will briefly cover effective methods of communication and collaboration for both students and teachers.
Experience Dyslexia
This session is designed to increase awareness of the difficulties and frustrations that people with dyslexia encounter daily. We hope this experience will provide insight into working more effectively with students with dyslexia and lead to greater empathy and understanding.
How Fine Arts Can Support Academic Classes
Incorporating New and Exciting Classroom Technology
This session will include ideas on how to use a QR code to teach/re teach information and address how to monitor and adjust your instruction and challenge all learners. In addition, information will be present on how to enhance Google doc using add-ons and also learn about Google Applications.
Positive Behavior Intervention Support
Pre-Assessments and Workshops in Your Classroom
This is a great way to get your students engaged in identifying the standards they are struggling to understand. They can request a workshop and you can schedule a day and time to address the topic with small groups, large groups, even whole class. Workshops really keep you informed on what students are having a hard time grasping.
Readers Workshop
What are the essential practices of a thriving community of readers? Experience a reading workshop for yourself and collaborate with others to think about refining your instructional routines to engage student readers.
Strategies for Diverse Learners
TIER II Strategies and Resources for the Classroom
Counselors will be talking about behavioral interventions that can be done in the classroom to help with students that are having difficulty. Session will include online resources that are helpful for a variety of behavioral needs.
