NYS Testing
We are looking forward to State Testing that is coming up this month. State Testing will occur on the following dates:
March 25-26th - ELA
April 21-22nd - Math
This year’s assessments will all be paper based (no computer based testing this year) over the course of the two days of testing for each subject. The assessments were designed and written by educators. Students will also continue to have the time they need to complete the exams. Finally, the assessments are not tied to any teacher or principal evaluations. The assessments are not a single measure of a student’s abilities. They do, however, often help us identify student areas of need for future academic support. Additionally, these assessments provide individualized reports that can help students, parents, and teachers work together in identifying student strengths as well as areas for growth.
The tests are designed to measure how well students are mastering the learning standards that guide classroom instruction and help to ensure that students are on track to graduate from high school with the critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning skills needed for success in college and the modern workplace. The tests also show how schools and districts are progressing with the learning standards and can support professional development for teachers.
As we prepare our students for the exams, we appreciate your support. Students should get a good night’s rest and eat a good breakfast before testing. In the end, all we ask is for our students to try their best.
Thank you

Charity Basketball Game
Student Council would like to thank everyone for taking part in this year's Spirit Week. Participation was great each day, and the assemblies were lots of fun.
Friday's Benefit Basketball Game was opened by Mr. Dave Kelly from Ronald McDonald House Charities, who thanked Spry for choosing this cause. Many Spry students of all houses and grades showed their skills at hoops, while their fans cheered on... earning points for their house as the night went on.
Blue House was awarded the Spry Spirit Stick, earning 3553 points for the entire competition. They were followed closely by Red House, with 3379 points. White House ended up with 2956 points, but had the most increase of participation as the week went on. So ALL houses were in it until the end… To be continued next year….!
BUT the real winner is the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the people who need their help. Spry will be donating $2000 and made almost 1000 treat bags to bring cheer to people who need a little kindness at a difficult time in their lives. Student Council members will be visiting the Ronald McDonald House later this month, bring the donation check and snack bags and taking a tour of the facility.
Nice job, Spry, for showing lots of Spirit and CARE!
