Reader's Workshop

In reader's workshop we are working on identifying characters and the setting and also making connections to the text we are reading.

Writer's Workshop

We are working hard in our books. We are all at different spots in our books and loving every minute of it! We are focusing on staying on one topic in our story and stretching the words out instead of asking how to spell a word.

Math Workshop

We are diving into our number work. We are talking about all the different ways to make numbers. Ask your child how they can represent a number such as 7. They might choose to write the number, to draw tally marks, to do dice, anything!

Homework

Homework will typically come home on Fridays. I rarely have time during the day on Thursday to check it all in and get it ready so I am doing it after school. Most of the weeks it will just be reading to your child. I think that is the best thing you can do. There will be other things occasionally. As far as math, count items with your child. While you are driving count to 100 by 1's, 5's, and 10's. Point out numbers as you see them. If you see we are working on patterns, have them look around the house or a store and see what kind of patterns they can find.
