Newsletter Week 4 Term 4

Meeanee School 9th November, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

Life at Meeanee School is incredibly busy at the moment as you will see throughout this newsletter. Papakura has just returned from their Wellington School Camp where they had a great time visiting the educational sights including Parliament, Capital E!, Space Place, Wellington Museum, Police Museum, and Zeelandia. Next week we hope to have a whole heap of photo's and some camp writing for you.

Next week we have School Athletics Day on Monday at the Regional Sports Park and then the Scholastic Book Fair for the rest of the week.

Today I will be sending out to parents/caregivers a survey form for you to complete. We value parents' thoughts and feedback about what we do at Meeanee School. We are constantly trying to improve what we do and would like help with planning our future direction. This survey comes out as a Google Form and should come to you via an email. If you have any issues with it please email me. The reason I use Google Forms is that it collates all of the results for me and saves a huge amount of time.

PB4L Weekly Goal

Our School Values are very important to us here at Meeanee School. We believe in showing Respect, Excellence, Empathy, and Perseverance. While our students are in school or sports uniform we encourage the display of these values.

This week students are focusing on putting away their sports equipment at the end of breaktimes. This is a continuation from last week as we still need to improve our efforts.

Robotics Competition

On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November we had 8 of our Year 6's take part in the Regional First Lego League Competition. We went into the competition feeling pretty good but learnt very early on that we had a long way to go. We will be taking a lot of lessons out of our first participation so we can be more competitive next year.

School Athletics Day

Next Monday is Athletics Day. You should have received a notice about this. Please ask your child's teacher for one if you didn't get one as we are trying to organise buses.

Juicies will be on sale.

All students need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. House Colours are encouraged.

Let's hope the sun is shining so we have an amazing day.

Big picture

Scholastic Book Fair

Next week we have our Scholastic Book Fair which will be held in our new Library. You should receive a notice home about this.

Congratulations

Charlie Bassett competed in the Kyokushin Karate Tournament on Saturday at the Meeanee Sports Stadium and earned himself a bronze medal in his division.

Local Employment Opportunities

The NZ Census is undertaken every 5 years, the next being in 2023. If you would like to for approximately 7 weeks part or fulltime once the children have headed back to school in February, consider a Field Collector position. I have been allocated the Nelson Park/ Meeanee/ Clive area. If you live, or would like to work in this area, please contact me for further details.
