Guatemala
A sunny, bright, festive and cultural place to explore!
Guatemala is a great place to tour, vacate, and explore. There are almost 16 million people here who you can possibly get to know, or witness some of their culture. Pedro de Alvarado was the founder of Guatemala from 1519-1521. The people who occupied Guatemala were mainly mestizo (a mixture of Mayan and Spanish, which was also their culture). Their culture was mainly Mayan and Spanish culture.
Livingston
This is a place near the Caribbean coast that can only be reached by boat. But this historical landmark is great for tourists to try out the different foods on the menus.
Monterrico
This gorgeous beach is a great place to just wind down and stare at the beautiful sunset while walking on the warm black sand. The currents and tides are only really suitable for professional/experienced swimmers so you might just want to enjoy the view.
Chichicastenango Market
This market would have to be the definition of culture and color. This market contains items from textiles, to huipils , to pottery! This is the place to be if you want a cultural souvenir to take home and cherish.
Politics
Politics in Guatemala is slightly different from a place like the United Sates. Guatemala is a democratic republic country and have a president that is head of the state, government, and a multi-party system and the government is in charge of the executive branch.
