The Honors College Gives Back!

Thanks to your effort and generosity, the Honors Thanksgiving Food Drive yielded 386 pounds of food for the Edwards Street Fellowship Center!

Congratulations to Kati Perry!

2015 Alumna Katherine Perry has been named a Semi-Finalist for a 2016-2017 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Spain. Kati will learn later this spring whether she has been selected.

Undergraduate Symposium on Research and Creative Activity

The Undergraduate Symposium on Research and Creative Activity at Southern Miss is an annual two-day event showcasing the outstanding work being done by undergraduate students across the campus. All faculty, staff, and students can attend the Symposium, and undergraduate students can submit their work to present and compete for cash prizes. Check out the new 2016 poster below!

2016 Summer REU at Alabama

Students with strong backgrounds in Chemistry are invited to apply for the 2016 Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program at The University of Alabama sponsored by NSF. The ten-week program will begin May 30, 2016. Participants will be paid a $5,150 stipend, and provided housing in on-campus apartments. Deadline: February 28, 2016

2016 Summer REU at Tennessee-Knoxville

Students are invited to apply for the 2016 NSF-funded REU Program in Chemistry at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. The ten-week intensive research experience will begin May 30, 2016. Participants will be paid a $5,000 stipend, free housing on campus and up to $500 of reimbursement on eligible travel costs.

Deadline: February 1, 2016

2016 Summer URP at Kansas

Students are invited to apply for the 2016 Summer Undergraduate Research Program offered by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at The University of Kansas. The ten-week laboratory research experience will tentatively begin May 23, 2016. Participants will be paid a stipend plus room and board costs. Deadline: February 19, 2016

Mardi Gras 2016

Mardi Gras events may be found and enjoyed across the coastal states, with many organizations donating proceeds to worthy charities. Caerus Mardi Gras in Hattiesburg kicked off last Saturday with the 5th annual parade, and closes with the Mardi Gras Ball on January 30. The "Love of Animals" events benefit five local animal shelters. Look for charitable events in your area.


We hope you have a purrrfectly fun 2016 Mardi Gras season!

Krewe of Southern Miss

The Gulf Park Student Government Association is proud to host the third annual Krewe of Southern Miss Mardi Gras Ball. Royal Court Nomination Applications are accepted until midnight, January 24. Elections are scheduled January 27-28, 2016.
