First Day of School Arrival
The first day of school is August 31st. We will begin welcoming students at 8:45 for the official start of the school day at 9:00am.
On the first day of school, Kindergarten teachers will greet their students in front of the main entrance. First grade teachers will greet their students outside the cafeteria entrance. Should there be inclement weather, this will happen in the gym . After taking attendance, we will say our goodbyes and enter the building. We recognize that this is a significant transition that can be difficult for both parents and children. Experience has taught us that making this a positive experience and departing together as a class allows for a smooth start to the student’s day.
Students in grades 2-5 will enter the building on arrival and proceed to their classrooms in what will be the typical manner during the school year. Staff members will welcome students at our main entrance and guide any student who might need assistance to their classroom. Please understand that, for safety reasons, we ask that parents of our older students to say their goodbyes in the lobby area. We do understand that some circumstances might require a parent to travel with their student. If this is a necessity, you will need to sign in at the office and receive a visitor’s badge. If you are unsure of your child's classroom teacher, please call the school and we will confirm this information prior to the first day of school.
Welcome to the team, Mr. Zach!
Hi my name is Zach Lane, I’ve lived in Loudon my whole life and I am extremely excited to be a part of this community and this school. I have always loved LES! I am more than grateful for the opportunity to work with young people and be a positive part of their LES experience.
Mr. Zach will primarily be spending his days supporting students in Lewis Land, also known as Mrs. Lewis' fourth grade classroom!
Miss Lane is joining our learning community!
My name is Samantha Lane and I’m from Loudon, NH! I started out at LES, and graduated from MVHS about 10 years ago.
Throughout the last 10 years, I have spent a lot of time taking care of children and getting to know all sorts of families, being with the most important people in my life, and being as creative as I can be. I love the outdoors and taking care of my plant babies!
I’m a big artist; painting, drawing, coloring, etc.! I love to help people whether it’s by listening, just sitting there with that person, whatever they need in the moment.
I’m looking forward to this journey at LES and can’t wait to be apart of this team/community!
Miss Lane will be working as the LES Building Assistant, helping out in the school counseling office as well as classrooms.
Covid-19 Update
Recently the CDC released new guidance pertaining to Covid-19 and the upcoming school year. The NH Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) adopted the changes which are summarized below.
Summary of changes:
- Quarantine has been removed for any exposure including household contacts regardless of vaccine status. Recommendation is to wear a mask and test on day 5.
- Isolation is still at 5 days so long as symptoms are improving and the individual is fever free for 24 hours. They may return to school on days 6-10 while wearing a mask.
- New updated recommendation: individuals who have access to antigen testing at home can remove masks before day 10 if they test negative on 2 consecutive antigen tests 48 hours apart with the first test obtained at earliest on day 6.
Please look over the following links for additional information. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to your school nurse.

Kindergarten and New Student Placement
Students that are new, or returning, to LES can find their placement information in the same way.
Please keep in mind, if you have not submitted all registration paperwork, placement may not have been made yet.
Attendance
School success goes hand in hand with good attendance. Regular attendance promotes a positive attitude towards school and a child’s self-esteem. Establishing this healthy habit from the first day, students will learn that arriving at school on time, every day is important. Please be aware that the NH truancy law, RSA 189:34, defines truancy as 10 half days of unexcused absences or 5 full days. In the event your child will be absent, please be sure to contact the school or enter it into Pickup Patrol by 9:00am to report this. If your child is absent due to an appointment, a note from their doctor or dentist is always appreciated. If your child is absent due to illness, this is documented as an excused absence.
