HSSD Care Award Recipient for Meadowbrook
One employee at each building will be recognized for demonstrating positive characteristics that contribute to our caring learning community. These awards have been determined through an anonymous peer voting process at each HSSD building. Voting was based on how the employees exhibit joy in their roles and a love for public education, foster healthy relationships with others, contribute to a positive school climate, and value every contribution with respect and honor.
Melissa Martinson, secretary, is the inaugural recipient of the HSSD CARE Award at Meadowbrook Elementary! She was surprised at an all school assembly yesterday. Congratulations to Mrs. Martinson, and the other award recipients.
Let the Countdown Begin!

If you have any questions regarding a meal balance, please refer to your student's account in MySchoolBucks (or email kimpaul@hssdschools.org). Our apologies for this miscommunication via PowerSchool, thank you!

Another offer from the Green Bay Blizzard
As a thank you for such an awesome turn out at their Family Day, the Blizzard are offering families the opportunity to come back and see us again. Included is a Fevo link, good for 2 tickets for $15 to the Friday, May 20th game against the Iowa Barnstormers! Essentially, a family of 4 could enjoy a game for $30! We are only offering this to our partnering schools and the link should eliminate the need for order forms and money collection! Hopefully a win-win for everyone!

Community Resource Updates
Did you know The Giving Tree’s vision is an education without barriers? Aside from our monthly food pantry, we support students and their families with so much more! From school supplies, to our Holiday Store, we know each student and family’s needs are different. We are looking forward to sharing a little more about The Giving Tree each month in conjunction with our food collections.
This month we are collecting canned fruit. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates the community support in helping ensure food is not a barrier to a student’s education.

From the School Board
HSSD Community Engagement Survey
The Board of Education would like to sincerely thank the HSSD community members and staff
for completing the survey that was sent out by the District. We are grateful for the responses
and feedback regarding our District operations. This is a wonderful opportunity for our District to evaluate current operations and take the feedback from the survey to understand where we have strengths and where we have challenges.
The full survey report is available for public viewing on the Board of Education page of the HSSD website.
The survey was conducted by School Perceptions, a Wisconsin-based independent research firm. The eight-page survey was mailed to all HSSD residents, families and open enrollment families and was emailed to HSSD staff. There were 1,060 responses. There was an increase in response rate from non-parent and non-staff residents than in previous surveys. Among all the subgroups the responses were almost all in the “agree” category, there was only one subgroup item that indicated disagreement.
There was a section of survey that pertained to the Board of Education specifically. The non-parent and non-staff subgroup would like more communication, specifically with understanding the budget resources and how they are being used in an easy way to understand. The Board is committed to taking the feedback and discussing various ways we are able to better communicate with all our staff and community members including residents that do not have children currently in our District.
Our District mission states: “We will work with families and community to ensure that our
students have the knowledge and skills to succeed in a changing world.” This survey allows us to adjust and adapt to feedback so we can continue to improve our District operations in alignment with our mission.
