CCUSD will offer additional COVID-19 drive-thru OPTIONAL testing for students, staff, and family members of staff and students
Dear CCUSD Staff and Families,
As a reminder, CCUSD is offering additional COVID-19 drive-thru testing as an optional measure for those who would like another weekly opportunity, or to provide a make-up opportunity for those who miss the regular Tuesday testing provided by LFN. This drive-thru testing is being offered to anyone - staff, students, family and community members.
This testing is through a new company (UltimateDX), on Saturdays from 9:00am - 2:00pm in the Middle School parking lot on Elenda St. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, you must “order a test” after registering at this LINK. If you registered last week, you do not need to do so again but do need to “order a test” after logging in.
Please see attached flyer for instructions: register, order, bring confirmation to drive-thru anytime during the testing window. Test results will be available through the company portal as soon as the tests are processed by their lab, normally within 24 hours.
With this addition, CCUSD now offers the following:
· Required: Weekly PCR testing on Tuesdays through LFN
· Optional: Weekly PCR testing on weekends through UltimateDX
· As needed: Rapid Antigen testing for symptomatic staff/students, athletes, extracurricular events for students, and other instances that require a rapid test
o Provided on a case-by-case basis

PERSEVERANCE Recognition
Lin Howe Families,
We would like to again celebrate all the Perseverance Award Recipients this month for their hard work in the classroom and on the playground! Our first award ceremony was so special, especially having our families safely join in the cafeteria and classrooms zooming in. Here are a few photos from our Philz Hot Chocolate Walk. We are looking forward to celebrating more students next month with a focus on "RESPECT." The ceremony will be held on March 2nd in the cafeteria. We will notify parents in advance if their child is being recognized. Finally, a Big Thank You to our Teachers, PBIS Team & Philz Coffee for collaborating around this school-wide support and helping to create such beautiful memories for our students and community.

What are Green Hosts? Understanding How to Green the Internet.
What are Green Hosts? Understanding How to Green the Internet.
World Internet usage statistics show that the Internet is still rapidly growing in the U.S. and growing from 400 to 1000% a year, worldwide. In fact, in 2005, it was reported that the total electric bill to operate those servers and related infrastructure equipment was $2.7 billion in the United States and $7.2 billion worldwide. A web server on average produces more than 630 kg of CO2 and consumes 1,000 kWh of energy annually.
The percentage of electricity consumption varies between organizations, but the Department of Energy estimates that 10% of the federal government’s electricity use goes to data centers.
It is estimated that if energy consumption due to web hosting keeps raising at the current rate by 2020 the industry will be polluting the planet more than the airline industry. With so much demand on resources, eco-friendly hosting services have emerged.
A green host, theoretically produces zero CO2. It can do so by powering its data center directly with renewable energy, or by purchasing carbon offsetting certificates. The Green Web Foundation advocates for a fossil free internet: they created a database to track if websites are powered by green energy of not. Check it out! Remember: you can also make a difference by deleting un-necessary emails or being mindful of the size of the pictures and documents you upload/send anywhere. Smaller is better!
Join our next CCUSD Environmental Sustainability Committee meeting on Thursday Feb. 17th, 2022 from 5-6.30pm. Contact: sustainability@ccusd.org for details. Everyone is welcome!
