Other Turner FAQ
What are school hours?
We open the school doors at 8:00 AM. The day begins at 8:25 AM and ends at 3:55 PM. We recommend that if your child needs to eat breakfast at school, that he/she is dropped off about 15-20 minutes early.
May I eat lunch with my child?
Absolutely! Please make sure to bring your ID. All visitors are escorted to the cafeteria, should plan to stay for the full 30 minute lunch period, and walk back to the front entrance/exit with the class and teacher.
May I bring fast food for my child?
You may bring fast food if you are eating with your child. Fast food lunches will not be delivered to students.
May I celebrate my child's birthday at school?
Absolutely! We love to celebrate our students' special days. Parents pre-arranging with the teacher may bring store bought cookies or cupcakes (which do not require cutting) to school and the class will celebrate during the last 20 minutes of the day.
How do I change my child's mode of transportation?
Please email turnertransportation@willisisd.org before 2:30 PM to change your child's mode of transportation the same day. Car rider barcodes may be changed/printed at art.thecontrolpoint.com.
Can I pick my child up from school early?
We believe that every moment of the school day is important, but we know that students often have appointments to attend. We ask that students are not picked up after 3:30 PM. All adults picking up students must have ID and be on the student's pickup list. Please contact our registrar to make changes to that list.
What is the student cell phone policy?
According to the WISD district handbook, "the district permits students to possess personal cell phones for safety purposes; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day, including during all testing, unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes."
